Default Disappointed dyno result...

Got my Z dynoed yesterday on a dynopack, and got 3 runs, first one 225.9hp and 197ft/lb, 2nd and 3rd is the same 226.3hp and 196ft/lb. I searched around the site, my reading seems really low...

mods:
Injen CAI moded to shirt ram
nismo catback exhaust
diy grounding kit

Since i bought my Z used, now i worry if there is anything wrong with the engine...

5at or 6mt? What altitude are you at? Temps outside? What gear weas it ran at? Theres amillion things that can affect your dyno result. Dynos should only be compared from the same car before and after mods, prefereably on the same day to see some results, and even then they arent completely accurate.

I'm not surprised. Those 2 mods are most likely robbing you of power than making power.

6speed, 2500ft above sea level, but the guy said the dynopack do calabrate it to see level. temp was around 20c. the runs were at 4th gear. I am really disappointed on this really low hp reading, since dynopack usually dyno higher...
A 2004 m3 6speed, same situation, at 4th gear run 275hp... 333x.83, but mine 287x.79, so seems like i lose 21%....

altitude, temp, gas octane, dyno condition/wear, and fan setup are going to make dynos across the world different

and AFAIK, nismo exhaust does not rob power

Correct, 5th is the 1:1 but from experience, I'll tell you that the numbers are almost identical, especially when using a load based dyno. I usually dyno my car in 4th gear...and tuning in 3rd for most of the time. Just to keep continuous, and repeated stress of the motor.

I made 226 stock on a dynojet waaaaay back in the day...so your numbers dont seem too bad.

226 is definitely on the low side for a Dynapack ... although I have seen it before. Average figure is somewhere around 250-260 (bone stock).

Was coolant temp monitored? What load setting (Ramp Up time) was the DynaPack set at? The lower the value, the more intertial loss you'll observe from the drive train. Larger values diminishe the inertial effect but at the cost of heat soak during a pull that could cost power. Setting at 8-10 seconds is typical.

Also, you should reset your ECU to insure you haven't accumulated excessive timing retards by the computer and/or stuck on the least aggressive map.

Get that Injen setup as a full CAI!!!!! I can not stress that enough with the Injen filter. I have tested the intake setups while out at the local 1/4 mile strip and the Injen setup as a short ram will yield lower than stock results every time out!!! The filter is not designed to be setup as a short ram. Now the JWT filter is setup for that application and works well, but the Injen setup needs to be setup as a full CAI.

I did 245 rwhp SAE on dynapack bone stock.

4th gear.

Dynapack Z read between 240-250 from what I have seen.

your dyno seems low. You should compare to other people pulls on same dyno. If everyone has low numbers relative to their cars(be it any car), than you are fine. M3 275 hp is pretty low, they dyno 280-290 on dynojets.

I wouldn't worry.

No unfortunately, it won't be shown on the paper. It's in one of the configuation screens.

those all seem low numbers

25%+ drivetrain loss on all of them, even the FWD

if we take your 226hp and go with ~25% drivetrainloss, you are at 282hp, perfectly fine. Every dyno is different.
