just wondering what the grinding sounds like -- is it loud grinding like the tilton, or soft high-pitched, quick grinding... more like a light buzzing?

my car makes so many freaking noises that it's hard to differentiate

flogged the **** out of my Z w/ roark last weekend and got a bit of grinding while in gear now, but i'm not sure if it's just my tilton going out on me (have new clutch disks on the way)

thanks!

When you grind a gear, you know it. You'll feel it through the shifter, it makes a loud metal to metal scraping sound, there's no mistake when you grind a gear. Now you might be lucky and just your clutch is going out, but i guess you would know because the clutch will slip way before it goes out. If your car grinds consistently in any gear, i would take it in.

If it's grinding, you'll know it. It sounds like your transmission is going to fall out from underneith the car, and you feel it in the shifter. I'm getting mine replaced this week; grind going from 5th to 6th.

i've ground my gears before (trying to shift too quickly), loud buzzing, felt like my arm was shocked w/ 100kV... is that the same sound it makes when going bad?

ok, whew -- i'm leaning more to a throwout bearing noise / clutch noise, then -- just ordered new clutch & the "official" throwout bearing for the tilton (bought mine prior to this and ghetto milled it to fit) -- hopefully that will solve my noise woes (have to go take the Z out and beat it again )

A premature indication other than grinding is difficulty going into 2nd, 3rd, or 5th while in motion and having to blip the throttle to ease it into gear.

yeah, isn't the tilton notorious for tranny noise? The cement mixer on wheels! But if you like the feel of the light flywheel, you have to live with some noise. Even my heavier nismo flywheel occasionally makes noise on an mis-shift. You should be alright with the new tranny and t/o bearing though.

lol, yeah -- tons of noise, but if you can live with it, it is unstoppable (the throttle response is unreal)

yeah, i'm really starting to believe that it's a clutch issue, but it should be here in a couple days -- it's a bit more finicky than any other clutch/flywheel setup -- you get to the point where you're really good and cataloging noises

thanks again,
-nick

Dumb question but adding a TT voids your chances at replacing your tranny under warranty right?
