Default Another Reason to install Grounding Kit

I had my Z in the shop for its first oil change (1500 miles) and had a long talk with the tech. (btw, I also had the transmission fluid drained and refilled.)

I asked him if he had heard anything about grounding kits, and benefits thereof.

He was extremely knowledgeable. One benefit that I had not heard elsewhere was that the air conditioning system will work better and last much longer because the enhanced ground reduces electrolysis within the system.

I received my kit from Michael last week and will install it tomorrow.

Michael: you did a great job pulling the kit together. Your instructions couldn't be better. I would suggest that locktite be used on the bolts, though.

cool, I already did my diy grounding kit. Didn't notice much except that the rpm idle about 300 lower. I'm still in the break in period so probably will never know the difference with and without since most people said they experience it at higher rpm. anyways, good to know that my a/c will last longer

I've been trying to keep up with these kits mentioned here.

I have a question, if you may...

Is this something I can install myself? (I am not asking you to validate my skills, rather if this is a do-it-yourself-kit or not)

Thanks,
Todd

My idle dropped also. I'm not sure by 300, but by some noticeable number. It doesn't lag.

if he was so knowlegeable, why did he see it fit to take your money for an unnecessary oil change sorry to rehash old arguments, but I have my opinions!!

The grounding points on the engine would be the same, there are 4 points on the engine. There may be a slight difference in the length of the cable that runs to the battery and chasis.

As far as the install, it was easy, took about 1-2 hours. I used the Nissan kit from JapanParts, and the instructions were in Japanese and the battery was on the oppisite side, and it still worked fine. It doesn't really matter what kit you use the concept is the same, ground as many points of the motor (4 in my case), to the - terminal on the battery and to the chasis of the car. Once you figure that out, it is just a matter of finding the optimal spots to ground (I used the all the places Nissan recommended except had to change the cable that ran from the front of the engine to the battery to run the opposite direction, and used a slightly different spot for the chasis ground).

I am happy, and can tell a difference in reving....

mine starts up and idles at like 1400RPMS, I guess this is a cold idle. when its running, it used to idle at about 800RPMs. the manual says 750+-50. but after my trip home yesterday, immedietly after the 1200mile break in, the idle was at like 600.... I dont have a grounding kit either... but the idle level seems to vary either by length of use, or mileage.
