sooo, I noticed you responded to a thread that is 10 years old...cut the belt...wgas

Removing the AC will yeild you approximately 40lbs off the front axle...35lbs for the compressor and 5lbs for the condenser + lines...***** aluminum you know...don't expect magic or anything...

I have
i removed the AC compressor along with the AC condenser if you do that you have to get a smaller belt which is the k070505 with also removing the idler pulley , it’s an unnecessary pulley. I noticed a slight difference in power.

OP hasn’t been on here for 9.5 years. Somehow I don’t think s/he cares anymore. 😆

But let me make an observation…. Cutting the belt is relatively useless without also removing all the weight. Also, if you ever want to use the AC again, the compressor will likely need to be overhauled because without movement in the system, all the seals and o-rings will dry out and crack.

VOE…. Did this very thing close to 50 years ago in one of my hot rods. Thought it’d be “cool” (sorry, dad pun) to remove the AC. Big mistake, turns out the best thing about that car was the AC system. Reinstallation did not go well for the above reason. Shoulda listened to my pop, the engineer (one of his specialties: AC systems for submarines and carriers). He never said “I told you so.” But I bet he was laughing inside…. “Dumb boy, how is he my son?”

if you dont want to do a perminant removal... just cut the AC belt and you will have a faster revving motor too...
