know your nissans.
That engine is NOT from a skyline. skylines had a RB20det rb25de, rb25det, and rb26dett. that engine is from a silvia aka 240sx. the SR20det was also found is japanese sentras and a car called the pulisar
and theres no such thing as a sr20dett.

Congrats, its looking good. A couple of questions for you- have they tackled the wiring yet and what kind ECU/ dash cluster controls are you going to use? Also did you weigh the VQ to get an actual difference in weight of the car compared to the SR? Again, it looks like its coming along well and they did get it mounted quickly.

The SR has been around awhile, so it benefits from lots or aftermarket support. It's a solid motor that can be safely/reliably built to higher HP #'s than the VQ35 at this point. Plus it's lighter. I wouldn't do it, and don't like the idea, but I can see why plenty of tuners are doing it...

The SR20DET is an extremely powerful 4cylinder powerplant. Did you know that the exact same team of engineers who designed, built, and tested the RB series motors (Skyline motors) are the same engineers who designed, built, and tested the SR20DET!?! No wonder it is THE ONLY Japanese four cylinder ever made that can handle over 600HP on a stock bottom-end...out of the box!!! Also, it makes perfect sense to swap a SR20DET in a 350Z...why? ==> 1) weight 2)reliable potential 3)affordable to buy and mod 4)fuel efficient...in some cases 5)ITS A JDM MOTOR!!! No one else on your block has it!!!

If there was a way to keep all the stock guages working along with traction control, a/c, cruise and the whole 9, this is definitly something I would consider

Thanks for the engine pics, looking really good. What mods do you have planned when the swap is done? Why didn't you use the highport S13 motor? They're cheaper and breathe better. What about engine management? Details, man.. I need the details! Again, looking top notch.

for right now i am going to use a E-manage and E01 boost controller...It has a HKS turbine but, i am going to upgrade to the GT30R and more fuel. I wanted to use the s14 motor because it's newer and it's built better IMO. The gauges and everything will work. I opt for no ac or traction control...so...i guess they won't work once the wire harness gets done. It willl be done next weekend. so I will let you know how it turned out.
