Synthetic oil
My car only has 400 miles on it right now. But I was wondering when I should switch to sythetic? Brand preferences? I saw that Mobil 1 now has a high mileage oil (15000 miles of gauranteed protection), but is there an oil filter that will last that long? Is there a special process to switch from regular to synthetic? Any info would be appreciated.

i used the fully synthetic oil not the blended. Also for the oil filter, it might be pricy for a filter but i would go to the dealer and buy the factory filter. Its about 7 bucks. And i also use mobil 1 full synthetic

I am running AMSoil 5W30 synthetic which they say is good for 25k miles. I am not and have not run the car more than about 5k miles without changing the oil. I am also running the Mobil one M1-105 oil filter. I think it was around $12 from Auto Zone. I am also looking into becoming an AMSoil dealer and may try to sell on here if anyone is interested.

The Reason Its Drinking Oil Is The Synthetic Is Thinner Than Conventional Oil And Is Passing Through Places It Shouldnt. However Its Not Enough To Cause Problems. No Special Steps Have To Be Taken To Run Full Synthetic. Make Sure You Dont Have An Oil Leak Because It Will Make It Worse. Always Run The Factory Oil Filter. Us Dealers Can Decline A Warranty Claim On Engine Failures Due To The Incorect Filters. And Trust Me, Ive Seen Failures Due To Wrong Filters.

you're lucky that your are not burning oil cuz everyone of my customers with a G35 were burning oil also and the factory reps said its normal with synthetic. i also drive the crap out of my car and drive 85 miles to work and dont change oil but every 6000 miles

SmO69 no offense, but o have had lots of customers get the wrong filter from auto parts stores. that is what i mean by being able not cover a repair. i have had many customers using the wrong filters, and that under law can void your warranty. trust me, most service advisors at the dealer want to cover a motor replacement because we get paid commision off the parts and labor. if i could put motors in all day long under warranty ill do it. how ever if i send a motor back with the incorrect filter the manufacturer will kick the claim.
