Default ecu reflash ??

i have an 03'z with injen cai and injen ses.i am in the process of installing alpha headers and resinated test pipes i am reading alot of threads about reflashing the ecu.is this nessary to do to keep the car runing properly or is the reflash just to get more power? with the mods i have is it necasary at all? i plan to stay NA,alot of threads say it is needed when the car has alot of NA mods which i don't consider my self to have but no one defines what that level is.will i see gains with the parts i am installing with out a reflash or do i need it? if needed what reflash is the best? ......thank you

Hey buddy, I currently have intake, headers, high flow cats, and an exhaust. After driving it for a few days, i noticed my exhaust tips being perfectly clean (car running WAAAAY too lean). After getting all the bolt ons, I wouldn't take ur car to high rpms because you're not running enough fuel. I would highly recommend getting a reflash either by AAM or Technosquare. I personally went with the AAM and have no regrets. Mike is very helpful and he's answered tons of my questions. Hope that helps.

I would recommend a ECU flash. I noticed a big difference in the way my car ran. Not so much in direct HP, but it ran much better/smoother (mods prior to flash: intake, plenum, headers & exhaust). Plus I liked having the rev limiter removed. I used Techno Square and would recommend them.

It is fine to take it to redline, nothing bad will happen. It might be running lean, but not anything that will screw up your engine.

will the reflashed ecu continue to help if you add more mods later? As in, right now its just a pop charger, if say I get the reflash, then added the rest of the exhaust on after, will it need to be redone or will the maps adjust accordingly?

The VQ motor is very strong and it would probably take a good beating before messing up but you definitely don't want to keep running lean at high rpms otherwise you might detonate which will cause engine failure.

I would probably get all your n/a mods put on before getting the reflash. When you get the reflash, you will have to fill out a form with all your mods and they will reflash it accordingly.

I agree w/ HKS350z.

For me, my car on the dyno was proof that the VQ runs damn lean in the midrange w/ the common air flow mods... (i/e/tp/pl). Add headers and/or cams and you really shouldn't be smashing on it w/o some kind of fuel mods or engine management...unless you like detonating and bouncing off your knock sensor's safety net.
