I have an 04 with almost 17K on it. I had some electrical poblems with it but I noticed those the day it was delivered to the dealership. Other than that, the only problems that have surfaced since then is the fact that a stock 04 Z has mediocre HP/potential compared to cars that have come out since.

kalima-do you have an 04 or 04.5 model year Z? Why do you say you have mediocre potential?

Search out posts by JimH, he had over 60K some time back. IIRC, he reported no major problems with Marilyn.

He's got some of the best pictures of his Z, truly beautiful.

74k now @ 2 years 3 months. Still believe that Jim has the 1 up on me, and also one of the MRC Motorsports guys.

My only issue right now is the annoying window which rolls down about 4" when using auto-up and it's been a hot day.

Replaced many things in the past. The tranny, rear half axle, shifter assembly, AC tensioner pulley, exhaust, door window died (which new motor is giving new problems), and that's about all I can remember.

Alright, how can I tell if it's a 04 or 04 and a half? And the mediocre numbers I'm referring to are not just in respect to what has come out with better numbers but cars that have come out with close numbers i.e. Mitsu Eclipse (260 HP..what the hell is this?), EVO VIII, WRX Sti, etc. For the price, I'm starting to think that the Z is not worth it. Convince me otherwise, for the sake of my ego...i guess.

had the same door window problem with the auto up

dealer has to take apart the door and reset the motor - it apparently doesn't know where fully up is, so it rolls down

takes about 1-2 hours

I have about 58k miles of literally hard a** driving. Only problem is oil consumption I lose about a quart every 1k which I have come to accept which Nissan will not cover. Technically speaking if I did oil changes at intervals of 5k I am actually doing 2 oil changes with the amount that I have to use to top off the oil LoL. I use Mobil1 filters and oil. Tranny replaced once at 28k but grinds havent appeared since besides misshifts due to my error. Otherwise she drives and sounds like how I first got her.

if you pull the door panel there is a little dial that will set the full up position. this thing can vibrate loose and lose the calibration. had to fix it on mine and had no patience to wait for my dealer to fix.

btw- i have 48k on mine and has had a new trans, an ati set up and now a built motor tt setup. it is a money pit, but hell what car isn't if you modify it!!! car is #42!!! beat that anyone!!! the production # is the last digits of the vin

Wow, I thought I had alot of miles with "only" 52000. Your car really shows what great tuning can do.

bought 6/1/03; just hit 40k. get a bra (clear?), steering wheel cover, seat covers, rubber shift ****, and a catch can. make sure your floormats have the rubber under the heel, too.

58,000 miles and still running hard. I average 1-2, 10 lbs bottles of nitrous a week, for the last 25,000 miles with no major issues. I have a little oil consumption, but that was occurring before I sprayed the car.

How much oil do you burn say every 3000 miles or so?

Honestly I dont think Ill be up that way for a while. I think you will beat Fido's record, with a little harder launch and your 2 new mods you should have no problem with that. Your going to def trap over 120mph now...

It varies a bit depending on how I drive the car. I can't say conclusively that I burn more oil when I am hard on her or when I'm easy on her. I have had times where I was hard and only burned about a 1/2 quart in 3000 miles. Then times where I have taken it easy and burned more. The most I have burned is just over a quart.

That's gonna be a 100 shot progressively controlled by the NX Maximizer. When at the track, I have a fully progressive configuration loaded, but for the street, I just set it up to do the same thing for each gear since I wouldn't spray in 1st or 2nd on the street anyways.

On the street I just begin ramping from a 35 shot @ 3000 RPMs to a full 100 shot by 4000 RPMs. I only spray when rolling at highway speeds and this keep my tires from breaking loose so badly.

I can say this. My Z's motor has been taking a beating with tons of nitrous flowing through her and she is still charging down the track and highways as good or better than she ever has. She's not the fastest thing out there, but she'll run 12.5 @112 on stock sized 245/40/18 street tires.
