With regard to a winter engine build up, I've just started searching for a short block.
Based on posts from guys looking, it would seem that they are a little short in supply now Couple questions... SGP and Avalon both charge a $1K core charge, is that the general price range I should be looking for a short block?

Also, is there any benefit to getting the complete engine if one shows up on car-parts.com for a good price?

I haven't done a swap in a long time and don't plan on doing this one myself. From an overall labor point of view what's the most efficient way to do the build up?
