Technically the skyline engine is in our cars. The skyline in japan is the g35 here. What you are looking for is the engine out of the previous skyline GTR. It has been discussed and almost no one has done it. It would cost so much and the engine is very heavy. It would be better imo to get forged internals and a good tt setup. You could get the same results with a little less money. and a lot less hassle.

sorry mate...should have made myself clear...im in australia. Thanks a lot for the info, we have a ton of Skylines GTS-Ts here in OZ, and a fair few GTRs..mostly R32s, n R33s...so was just wondering.

So basically ur saying while mechanically it is possible...common sense and $$$ would push you in a diff direction.

it has been done already as I've read them in magazines, but never seen one in real life. Theoretically and mechanically it is doable, but you are right as common sense and $$$ would push you in a different direction.

I have not seen many RB swaps yet ( I think 1 maybe) ...mainly SR20's are the motor of choice for weight reduction and power potential in the Z.

There's a RWD version GTR I believe. that would be the RB and drivetrain I would source. Just put it on paper and see which would cost more, the RB swap or building the VQ.

ITs not worth it, way to much money and you can make the same power out of the Vq as a rb26 or 26. The VQ is one of the best 6's out there why would you change?

RB isn't the new engine for the 03+ Skylines, its VQ

Ummm...yeah I know this. We were discussing common swaps into the 350Z to replace the stock vq.

SR20DET swap is pretty cheap...

Yeah I've heard of a couple different cars using an RB26. I've also seen a Z in Turbo Magazine that had a Twin Turbo VQ34 I believe.

N14: Why do people from the UK and Australia call this car the "Zed", or even refer to the letter Z as "Zed" (we say "Zee")? I was always curious. I've also had some teachers from school saying things like "alpher" (alpha) and "gammer" (gamma)...any idea?

The pro car from performance motorsports with 1600 hp with the VQ engine ran 6.633 at 215!!! STICK WITH THE VQ, or its not even a Z anymore!

I can answer this This is the only country that was British owned that pronounces Z as Zee...Im from Guyana, formerly British owned and we say Zed as well...as in x, y, Zed. Zed is the proper english pronounciation for the letter Z. I had to change it to Zee since Im in New Yawk now and got tired of hearing "WHAT???"....

back on topic. there are guys on this site making over 600hp soon there will be 700hp on the new engine..So no need for a swap...Also there is a grey race car using the 350Zed engine that is putting out 1600hp[?] and runs the 1/4 in 6.6 @ 215mph ...RB who?

Doh..Didnt realize someone already posted about this crazy race car...

Hi mate, if you want, you can ask Simon at Nizpro (Melbourne) to drop in one rb26dett for ya... only if the money allows you can even ask him to tune it up to 1K+ HP... or you can go for APS TT with forged internals that will be even stronger and better option IMO!

Btw... most of aussies are at the other forum and if you want to meet more aussies and discuss about this, they are at 350z "DASH" tech "DOT" com...

cheers,

richie

the rb swap can be done, but it is not a direct drop in. it takes an ****-load of fab to make it fit without totally destroying the balance of the car. the more economical solution would be to build a vq for TT. i hope this helps.
