Now, a simple LS1 motor can put 481 whp to the wheels with just exhaust, lid (intake), and a mild cam. Why do you think everyone with a LS1 motor goes "heads and cam"? Because they can easily put 550+ to the wheels with a simple cam and port work.
I'm making a very educated guess that the heads on the Z need a LOT of work.

I am no LS1 expert so I looked them up and found quite a bit of dyno charts and real great info. For anyone really interested read the first link below. Now from the dyno's I saw, most LS1 with a few bolt on's (intake, exhaust) were putting about 325hp to the wheels on average. In the link below, an LS1 with nearly everything you can do to it dyno'd at 405hp, a far cry from your claims. You are asking us to believe that you can get 481rwhp with just the cam over the bolt ons? That is a near 50% increase. I simply don't believe it. To get a 50% increase you need to flow 50% more air and fuel without any other internal mods. There is simply no way. You can't cheat physics my friend. Then you go on to make a further claim of 550+rwhp with cams and headwork? That is a 70% increase!!! I simply have to call B.S. on that one.

Yeah, were are you coming up with these LS1 numbers? You must not be talking about stock displacement motors! My heads/cam ls1 puts out 445rwhp, stock displacement, and that is on the higher end of the average. What shop does your grandfather run? Is your camaro running 9s on motor?
Thanks,
