You need to go buy some penetrating oil. Apply it several times over the course of a few hours and let it work its way into the threads. Eventually the air tools and the penetrating oil will help you get this nasty bolt off.

Ive done 2 crank pulley installs you dont need to pull th efan. Just get a large 1/2" breaker bar with a metal pipe over it. Put it on the crank pulley bolt, and set the bar/pole on the ground at the 5 o'clock position. Now simply turn the motor a few times. The torque from the starter will loosen the bolt. SImple as that. Dont break a sweat and it works every time. Good luck.

How did you keep the car from starting?

When I installed one I just use the pipe w/breaker bar method. No need to remove fans, etc....

KJR is not an underdrive pulley. It is the smae diameter as OEM.

You dont turn the key for 2 seconds till it starts just a quick turn of the starter. Just turn the key till you hear the motor start to turn and pull back on the ignition. You only have to barely turn the crank 2X and it will break free. Painless and easy as hell, everybody should do it that way.

There's also a "pulley removal wrench" from harbor freight. It's basically a strap wrench but the strap included with it is a v belt so it grabs the pulley better.

It's referenced here in the fifth post: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showfl...47&Main=755206

I haven't used it, but for $9 +tax it should be worth a try.

5AT OR 6MT? Huge difference if you don't do the engine starting method.

we tried with bars, wrenches, penetrating everything, brakes, in all gears etc. would not move.
Went to a proper shop, mechanic had the same problems. He in the end wanted to take off the radiator.... a full day's work.... I sold the pulleys. Not worth it, in my case

I also had some difficulties with the shop that was trying to install my UD pulley. The bolt was on there so tight and it wouldn't budge. They used a huge breaker bar and were afraid of damaging the flywheel since its a manual.

I am taking it back and they are going to try and use a chain wrench on the pulley to get it off. I didn't want them to go through the headaches of pulling out the radiator to use air tools.

If the chain wrench doesn't work I will probably bag the pulley.

USE MY METHOD ITWORKS EVERY TIME ! You dont need to go to a mechanic to have this done its 2 tensioners you have to loosen and then retighten, and one crank pulley bolt you only need to tighten, cuz using my method it loosens itself, c'mon guys.....

No...There is a seal on the outer edge on the hole ,on the block and you slide in the pulley into it . It has dug a groove on the pulley , on the round part that slides into the block . I think Im going to put back on the stock pulley
