But i took him hard. Then i raced a Z and it was like i was walking by him. Then on the track i raced a z with a supercharger, i have no clue what kind and i lack Z information sorry, but it was a closer race but still nothing. Honestly to contend with the STi (awd) i believe air induction would be needed. The m3 after 1/4 is a beast, that thing is made for the highway. understandably the m3 is way more expensive.. but the sti is not and a great bang for the buck. it is currently for sale, and i am interested in getting a Z and doing a TT package. Look in the classifieds for my listing. Enjoy your great cars, i love them.

To the guy that said you need 46 more hp and the ones that agreed, stop spreading BS around<---also to the ones that cry S/C or Turbo so quickly-LEARN TO DRIVE YOUR FING CAR, you are the same guys running FI and going low to mid 13's at weak traps @ the track making Z's look bad. Why would we need 46more hp to run with or beat an M3? We weigh 200-250lbs LESS, that means we can run with them with LESS hp
To sum it up--all you need is bolt-ons, dont need headers, dont need cams, and you need to extract 100% out of your car and you can beat an E46 M3.

Uhm, so I beat a vert M3 from a 40 roll...ok I wouldn't say beat, I pulled an insta-half-a-car and held that until 110 or so then we shut down....You don't need mega-mods to beat an M3, if you're a 6 spd learn how to drive your car and get a few breathing mods. If you're a 5AT looking to beat an M3 you have a lot of catching up to do.

mishift = good f*cking game with the Z

Your mods no way makes up for 47bhp and better gearing from the M car
I dont post here very much, but read the post all the time. There has been tons of talk about the M3 vs the Z. I own a Z now and almost went the route of the M3. I went out and looked into buying a 2004 coupe because I heard about the huge difference in power between the two. I was not blown away or disappointed. It is a great car, but not by any means a class behind or ahead of the Z. My car is with out a doubt faster than a stock M3, and all I have are bolt-ons. I am not new to cars so dont say it was me. The car before my 350 was a vette and a Cam. SS before that. Guys I am not saying the M3 is not a nice car it is, but not nice enough for me to walk away from my Z. When I had the Vette it was the same thing with the M. Weather or not a car is better than another depends on who you ask, and what is important to them. All of you guys who make statements like there is no way to keep up with a M3 are mistaken. Dont post that crap if you dont know for sure or have driven one yourself. Maybe you should have someone else drive your car with you in the pass. seat. I assure you it would blow your mind and you will see how fast the Z really is. Guys learn to drive your ride...
I dont know who has seen this, but check it out.

Powershifting = danger for a sorry a$$ driver that shouldnt be powershifting in the first place. If you cant or dont choose not to powershift thats up to you, but when properly done it is only slightly harder on your clutch than regular speed shifting. I have 53K on my stock clutch/fw with literally 1000's of powershifts, 6200 rpm clutch drops on slicks, and it still holds and chirps 3rd gear like its new. And a mis-shift in any car will be bad, again, if you drive well it wont happen.

Just learn how to launch the car good. The numbers in MT are by professionals and even they cant get the same times consistently for any car. They give the best performance. Anything will happen in a street drag race.
Ex 1:I raced a M3 Convertible to about 100 and spanked it by 2 maybe 3 car lenghts.
Ex 2: I race my friends stock wrx and not an sti, I launched like a douche and lost.
In case of the M3, Will this always be the outcome? Hell no. Im sure he can spank my car, I spank his, we match even, he has a slight win, I have a slight win, Etc.
Drag racing is all about driver performance. That is the whole purpose of the sport, reaction time, good launch, fast shifting. The car cannot get these times themselves it is all up to the driver.

I completely agree with you. It all comes down to the driver. I love going to the track and taking people out who think they are going to destroy me because their car is faster. Then they have a bad launch and sit at the light spinning for 5 seconds and they lose the race.

Drive Well
I still think M3's are one of the more over-rated cars out there. Hell even the last generation was sooo over-rated. 2 of my better friends own M3's and honestly they are not that much faster stock/stock.
I like the guys that post on here about how MT or so and so magazine has the M3 at 13.4 or whatever, the thing is guys, we are talking about a couple blinks of an eye here, .3-.4 secs.. Gimme a break that is why it IS a drivers race.
Anyone that doesn't have much racing experience will always fall back to the magazines.
And at the end of the day, 1 full second in a 1/4 mile is still only 3-4 car lengths... whoopie!

Now, if you purchased some sort of piggy back unit, fine.
Are you sure you know what you are talking about?
