Default For Those With A 3.91 Ring and Pinion Setup

what are your impressions of the gearing after having it installed for a month or more as it relates to the following:

1. Drivability
2. Acceleration
3. Gas Mileage
4. Average RPM increase

I am considering the 3.91 ring and pinion as my next mod. Thanks.

Feels like oem, but with a better power band. One thing that will make your experience nuts is the LSD

No downside to this mod. Do it if you can afford it. Gas mileage loss was about 2 mpg. This was mostly due to the rediculous grin I got on my face everytime I stepped on the gas. Which was a lot.

Can you elaborate on what you mean about the LSD. I plan on keeping the stock LSD.

The LSD chosen will effect driveability and not the 3.9 gears by itself

I heard the nismo lsd is not as good as the oem in the streets.

Hmm.. Does anybody know how it would affect a 5at?? Im planning to get it, but im not sure how a lsd will have an effect on a 5at, and im also not sure if i drive on D and just smash the gas, would i bounce off the rev limiter because the computer cant change the gears fast enough??? The 3.9 Final Drive will be going through the gears much faster. Hope somebody can answer my questions, these are the the only 2 question marks thats stopping me from getting it.

I think some guys on the g forum have this mod on the 5at... they said you have to say good bye to your cruise control b/c it will freak out and click off but one guy claims it dropped his 1/4 by a second!!! swaping a 3.3 to 3.9 is a pretty large jump... btw the guy that runs this mod runs 12's NA; he has other NA mods but says this was the most important.

Yea, i know. ISMSOLUTIONS, thats his member name. I tried pming him to ask him more about it, but he hasn't responded. Maybe he hasn't been on. I know about the cruise control, but i dont really care. I never use my cruise control anyway. What i am concerned about is if im driving on D and smash the gas would i hit rev limiter before the computer can change gears quick enough. Because i dont want to have to drive on mm mode all the time.
