Default 2004 350z Base Transmission Program Problem ?

04 Base with 48k..

Normal driving, all of a sudden check engine light turns on. Rev's will not go any higher, let go the gas.. RPM stays at 1k, no response to throttle.

Rolling to a stop, turn off the car... turn it back on. Run's fine.... for a BLOCK, same problems re-occurs.

Lost of power with the engine light on... this happened before, un-plugged the Batt for an hour to re-set the ECU. Ran fine till today...

Just called Nissan, service manger said it sounds like a Transmission Program Problem. Wants me to bring it in...

With 48k... warrantee is over... WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Have anyone had this problem before?

Please advise...

WOW MAN

This exact same thing happened to me 5 days ago... I wrote asking about the issues on a local board (www.g350z.com).

Figured id throw this up and see what kinda feedback i might get.

(Ill step-by-step the explanation to give the exact happenings)
About 4 days ago, i pulled up to a red light. Clutched in, braked, Stick in N. Light turned Green, put stick in 1st, engaged clutch, car beings moving. Removed foot from clutch, full engagment.. gas the car and it began moving as normal.. then

(then the weirdness occurs)

gasing the engine a bit more to get up to speed, yet response anymore. Almost as if it stalled, yet didnt. RPM's stayed @ 1500. Yet the car was just rolling slowly. I tried gasing it more, yet no responce still. (SES light apeared) I put the hazards on, while still rolling pulled it to the side of the road. Turned the Z off. Then started it back up, SES light still on, and pulled off, everything working as normal.

But still today, the SES light is still on. No issues since that day.

I have absolutly NO CLUE what happened, its the weirdest thing ive every experienced, because IMO, there nothing to explain it. If anyone has a clue as to what might of happened, or what might be going on, please chime in.

Question, Should i take it to the dealer (under Warrenty) and get it checked out? Or should i just clear the SES with a ECU reset?

Thanks in Advance.

Sully
Lemme know what Nissan find out, im going Monday for a check, because my SES light is also still on. Fort. Im only at 14k, and under warrenty.

Default ...

Nissan said something is wrong with the throttle body. Trottle and gasket needs to be changed. It's NOT covered by warranty.

Parts and labor will cost $1100+

Im reading my Warranty Manual, under drivetrain. Which is covered 60 months, 60K miles.

ENGINE:
Cyliner Heads and block and all internal parts, rocker covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger, flywheel, seals and gaskets.

Is covered...

Am i getting ripped off here by the service manager?
Is the throttle body covered by warranty?

Default Fingers Crossed...

Service manager, told me my problem isnt covered by warranty.

I asked him who makes the decision for that... he said "I do"
I told him to explain to me what is exactly covered by warranty... he said all moving parts of the engine. I told him the throttle body is a moving part and its hard for me to understand why it isnt covered.

I told him ill just take car back, they wanted to charged me $120!

I stood there *****ing... at the service manager, asking him to review the case again and ask the tech guy again.

5 min's pass... he came back and told me he would call me on monday to give me an update. He will try to manipulate the problem to have it covered by warranty.

So I have my fingers crossed.... if that wont work the TAB will be $1200 for parts and labor.

I was going to say, wait until i find out what my issues was on Monday, and see if its the same issues. And i could find out whats covered on my side. Man thats sucks.. u know it always seems as if the warrenty covers things that seemingly work fine.

What a pain, my SES light has been on the last 7 days now.. so i assume the issue is still there. Ive yet to replicate the issues again tho.

The Verdict:

It was "Throttle Positioning Sensor" ... It was covered under warrenty for me. Its considered an electronic component and not a moving part. Car's running ok now.

Ill grab you the part numbers replaced on mine tonight.
