Resetting the ECU??
I never reset my ecu after installing my jwt popcharger, high flow cats, and exhaust. IS it necessary? I did a search but couldn't find any solid answers.
if i'm not mistaken, the ECU would reset by itself in a few days of normal driving..... i could be wrong.... i read it somewhere in this forum that it may be neccessary to disconnect the battery first before installing a Popcharger to avoid stalling at high RPM in neutral.

There have been reports of highspeed stalling with the popcharger but I don't recall reading that disconnecting the battery will help prevent that. In general, it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on the car.
DavesZ you are correct. An ECU will never reset itself. The ECU will lean and adjust as different signals are received. Resetting the ECU wont just magically happen, less electrical failure within the ECU or loss of power for more than five minutes.

A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

No. The ECU will attempt to maintain parameters (emissions for example) regardless of what modifications you make. You can attempt to fool the ECU with an overnight battery disconnect or manual reset, but as soon as you begin driving the car, the ECU will attempt to return to “normal.” The only way to alter the ECU to take full advantage of your modifications is programming.

our ECM is programmed to do its job and it wont do other wise unless programmed to do so...
Remember the Terminator... kind of like that, but with less firepower and more just sit there....

you can disconnect the battery for 24 hours..
it took me close to 300 miles for my ecu to adjust to my popcharger, without resetting. computer should learn by itself, but with multiple mods, it may take longer. you should 'reflash' after all them breathing mods.

So my "gains" from the butt dyno will go away? Like the car feels quicker, is the ecm going to adjust over time and the gains will decrease, i should have done a before and after dyno but i know it did something, the car def. feels quicker. I plan on getting a vorteq this summer so i don't want to go crazy reprogramming just yet. the intake is just temporary
Remeber Bob.... speed can me mental as well. When I had my Scion, after I put my intake, headers, exhuast and, coil conversion kit, I thought that thing was a batt outta hell. But the score board still said 17 seconds of defeat and pitty.
Then I got the Z... and I am mental. Mental with love
