Fluids?
Well I'm about to turn 20k on my 03 Touring 6sp. I pretty much set on going w/ the Mobil 1 10w30. I was wondering if anyone has use the Pennzoil Synchromesh for their transmisson? Also anyone change their differential fluid? If so, to what? I know the diff really doesn't need to be change but if I can put something in there to help it out, I will.
I replace all the fluids at the intervals recommended in the maintenance manual. More frequent changes accomplish little. For “type” of fluids, I follow the recommendations in the owners manual. Yes I replaced the differential oil, but I don't recall what brand it was.

LOL I was looking at Royal Purple last night. The 10w30 motor oil, Max-Gear for the diff. I have a question though, should I use the Max-Gear for the tranny or the Synchromax?

I changed both at the same time, early on- around 3K miles. The 6MT to make the shifting easier and the rear diff just to get any initial shavings out.

The Pennzoil Synchromesh looks to be for very specific applications, though it does say it has "excellent yellow metal compatibility". Still, I'm not sure I'd run the risk, especially with our trannys.
Regarding the Royal Purple, their site mentiones that MaxGear is safe for use in trannys requiring GL-4.

I doubt that there'd be any harm done.
I *think* I've settled on RP MaxGear 75w90, which is supposedly ok for both GL-4 and GL-5 applications. Still...being that I've replaced my tranny once already...the idea that it works in both applications makes me a bit wary. I do like the idea that I can use it in the differential as well, though.

Well all the research I've done and found is that you should use only the Nissan OEM oil. Doubt it really make that much of a difference anyhow. Rather be safe than sorry.

I found the better product is the Shell Spirax synthetic gear oil. I use it in the G35 MT and rear diff. Excellent copper corrsion test result and a true synthetic. Best oil change I've done in awhile. No more crunchies when I speed shift.
