Angry Blown transmission yesterday (4th gear stuck)!

Yesterday I was doing so runs with another see and I have a vid of me blowing my transmission in action. I also have a vid to show ya'll that I had the clutch full depress and was using force to move the stick around. It is stuck in 4th gear and I had to ride the clutch like hell to get my car to nissan dealer today. I've never heard anything like this ever in my life and nissan says they never seen nothing like this either. Right now I'm driving a rental which is a 2006 Chevy Impala w/ 3000 miles on it. I guess it was expect that the transmission was going to go in my 03 Z which only has 29k on it right now. I'll be getting a new tranny and be back on the road next weekend. Is there any break in periods with a new tranny?

I would like to know this also. I just got my new tranny installed yesterday. I am still breaking in my new engine though so I will be taking it easy either way, just interested.

I broke my 2 new tranny's in 500 miles before any kind of racing. I always tell myself-"dont shift this one so hard, try to make it last" then I just run through the gears a few times and I dont feel bad anymore My 2nd tranny got stuck in reverse!

That would have been funny but no. It was actually stuck in the gate between 6th gear and reverse, it couldnt be moved anywhere. I had to tow it to my house-I used my warranty tow so it costs me nothing. BTW did you guys know you get 1 free tow on Nissan per year of having warranty?

Probably a bent shift fork, or blasted a synchro.

So what do ya'll recommend far as mileage for breaking in a new transmission before any hard driving?

Not much...just some standard gentle driving for a few hundred miles should do it.

I read that but I wasn't sure if that was the mileage for the break in period. Thanks again, and I'll be in action real soon. Nissan said it takes them 3 days to receive the transmission and 1 1/2 days to install it. So maybe this weekend coming up I'll be back on the road and get some new vids going real soon.

Uh-oh... my tranny has been grinding 6th on a semi-frequent basis for a month or two, and just started to grind 5th like it does 6th two weeks ago. Signs of an impending apocalypse?!

I would say yes. Car problems always get worse. They never get better, they dont even stay the same. In a few more months when yuo get it all the time take it in and get a new tranny. Until then practice your speed/power shifting

Alright ya'll I just talk to nissan and guess what the told me. They said I blew the neutral safety switch. I said what can cause it? He said speed shifting. What the hell is the neutral safety switch ya'll? He was saying once he gets that on that he was going out to drive it and see if there is anything wrong then. I was telling him that when I shift into 5th gear like normal driving that I get a little grind. Like it goes in but like a clunk you feel with the shifter. I then told him when he test drive it to drive it like it is suppose to be driven. It's a sports car and I didn't buy a sports car to be driving like a grand ma....lol The part is suppose to come in tomorrow or the next day. I'll keep ya'll posted!!

The dealers never cease to amaze me. So now he going to say that replacing the safety switch is going to solve your tranny grinding problems??

Unbelievable.

I can hear a clunking sound from underneith possibly my tranny and somtimes it grins from 6th to 5th. Ill have to wait till next season to bring it back for a 2nd look before i through this APS ST kit on.

My grinds aren't the type of grinds you get from going too fast from 1st into 2nd gear and you get stuck not being able to get into the gear. Mines is only when I regular shift from 4th into 5th and it goes into gear. But I feel a little grind as it sets in the gear but this is only every once in awhile like 2 times a week. What do you think?
