Default Loss of power in second gear at low RPMS durring race?? NEED HELP!!

I need some help guys any input would be great! So I’m out with my boy who also has a 350 and we did a second gear pull from around 2 rpms and my car had absolutely no power till I hit around 4 rpms and up then the power band came back. So everyone knows what my set up is I have Injen exhaust and Injen intake my friends set up is Borla TD exhaust and Pop charger. When we did a high (3 to 4 rpms) second gear pull I had all the power in the world that I needed and the race was a heads up head to head race. What could possibly cause this power loss and how can I gain it back???

Peak torque is at 4,800 rpm. It doesn't matter what gear you are in.

I'm not looking for peak torque I'm asking why I have no power at those rpm ranges I was practically standing still. It's scarry to say but my honda had more power in that rpm range then this car and they are two totally different cars.

you need to be in first if your in 2nd gear at 2,000rpms... that means you doing like 20mph... downshift to first and you will have tons of power your in too high of a gear for your rpm's , thus your putting your engine under more of a load then its use too when you try and floor it, so to fix this problem, DOWNSHIFT

I totally agree with him needing to learn how to drive his car! Who in the hell races using the power band at it's weakest point! Get real and stay in the sweet spot or else get handed your a$$!

both cars started from 2nd on purpose...at least that's what i got from what he originally posted...they knew there wouldn't be much power, but he's asking why his car had a lot less than he thought it would...he started in second on purpose, not because he thought it would have the best power ever

Thats the thing you not getting i totally hear u and where the power band is but if you are at a light it changes ur moving with a few cars u shift from first to second u kinda moving slow in second slow down to talk again im not gunna shift into first so we slow down talk then BEEP BEEP BEEP go and we were both at a low rpm in second after we slowed to talk and wait for trafic to pass. once we had an opean road we took of from second at the rpm we were at. its not like i had just left a light and i was still in first.

Okay man, We are going to act like it wasn't a real race and ya'll decide to take off way and I mean wayyyy out of power band. As far as you flooring it in 2nd gear and his car respond better is because of the back pressure. His exhaust runs 2 pipes into 1 canister then it exits and that would result in more torque and hp down low thur mid range in the rpm. Your exhaust is 2 pipes going out of their own 2 canisters resulting mid thur high range torque and hp in the rpm. If ya'll are both equal drivers and decent at shifting. Then your car would pull on him when ya'll got to higher speeds because of less back pressure.

FYI- look at Nismo with 1 pipe into 1 canister. The result is it is stronger low to mid range torque and hp in the rpm than all of discribe above but has less top up power of them both also.

TURN OFF VDC!! My car from a 1st or 2nd gear roll with VDC on if I punch it, VDC will kick in and cut back engine power. It will also happen on a 1-2, and 2-3 fast shift. Did you have it on? If you did, turn it off and go do it again. BTW if its cold where you live VDC will kick on much sooner....
