Default possible nismo threw dealership.

went to the dealer today to talk to the service and mechs about what aftermarket parts would void my warranty. Pretty much everything I asked about would void it.....even a intake would void my whole engine. But the mechs and service was sayin they heard a rumor that nismo was going to be offered threw the dealership and if they also installed NISMO parts.....they wouldnt void your warranty. So I walked down to parts to talk to them but of course no one was around.

Anyone else heard about this????or is it just a rumor.

Also I cut the resignator or pre-silencer off today. It sounds better but I dont think it was worth all the hype. Anyone know if this changes emissions or not. Oh yea and that simple mod voids your exaust from where you cut back. Damn dealerships

When it comes to dealerships, sometimes I would like to THROW them instead of going THROUGH them!

It's true. Expect Nismo parts to start filtering into your dealership late March/April.

I believe its up to each dealer to participate in the program but Parts and Service is a critical % of their overall business.

Expect the parts that require liitle or no installation training first.

Yes, NISMO parts will be sold through Nissan dealers.

Also, about the warranty issue. By LAW, a dealer has to prove that the modification you did resulted in the malfunction of whatever it is that went wrong. They CANNOT just void your warranty for anything. They have to prove it.

well I called the parts department today at the nissan dealership....he said that it is true that they will be selling nismo parts....and they are just waiting for a nismo catalog, so he can have some part numbers.

I would like to see that law in writing about the warranty.
That way I can give it to my dealership

Wait...there's a couple of laws that forbid manufacturer from voiding your warranty due to aftermarket products. I'll see if I can dig them up somewhere.

You may just have to shop around.....the mech I talked to said that they were pretty competitive. I'll drive a few hours if it was to save me some money. Another thought might be is to get serveral Zs together and buy the same product and see if you could get a discount on some labor.

OK, name = Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, do a search, plenty to read. Essentially, warranty only void if the part actually CAUSED the problem, example: installed aftermarket shocks, and the OE turbos blow, must fix, shocks had nothing to do with defect. BUT, if for exmaple, an ECU chip is installed and caused the turbos to blow for some reason, then the manufacturer can void warranty, because the chip MAY have caused the rpoblem.

The dealership is telling you that to cover their *** mainly. If someone there told you that it WOULDN'T void your warranty, then you'd come in there a week later with a blown Intake manifold saying that Billy-the-tech said it was fine to remove your air intake with one that you saw in the back of Mad Magazine.

The proof that it was not the cause of the failure lies on you though. You have to be able to show that it wasn't your mod's fault - and that can mean expensive tech time.
