anybody installed their own clutch/flywheel?
With the right tools and some mechanical ability, on a scale from 1 to 10, its a 7. First time, it should take you about ten or more hours, and yes its possible on jackstands.
first time i did it the motor was out of the car. now i get to do it with the engine in the car in about a week. i have done it many times on other cars. it is fun on jack stands when you drop the tranny on your chest and try to crawl back from under the car with it, lol. auto's suck!!
ill be doing it with jackstands that lift the car about 3 feet off the ground, they are made for heavy equipments, i used them to install my turbo kit. its nice to be able to sit on a creeper and roll under the car. do i need any special tools?
You need a T-55 Torx for the flywheel bolts and disc alignment tool (given), if you have done other clutches not to bad a job. lots of room for access in fact its easy compared to most sticks. Trans weights 147lbs. It is two big dudes needed, maybe, but two normal guys can balance it on a jack and not get hurt..
i did it on jack stands and it was a *****. the hardest part is lifting the trans and aligning it with the engine. and make sure the T-55 torx is good quality caz cheap **** WILL break and **** u off.
