... if some water get in then it will still run?
I mean... i have CAI too and i dont think if you step on the pedal when it rains no water will be sucked in from the filter?

thats not hydrolock. a little bit of water gets burnt off during the engines operating cycle. it takes a lot of water , i.e. CAI completely submerged while operating then it must suck in a bunch to clog up the engine. keep in mind that there are sensors in the intake manifold that detect water entering the engine to prevent this.

heres a better description

just keep in mind that in order for it to suck in that water its gonna have to travl up about 2 feet and thru 4 ft of intake piping. its not easy at all for a lot of water to go up that far in your intake. if u see a puddle and dont know how deep it is, slow down and go thru it at a few mph in 1st gear.

I dont get how there is even a question that they are bull****ting you when you can drive the car? I hate dealerships, bull**** is all they are good at.

Not in the Z there isn't. In fact, I don't see how you could make one, especially one that is foolproof. If the engine is turning over at any reasonable speed, by the time it takes a sensor to detect the water, you couldn't stop the engine fast enough. Maybe some type of intake valve control that would keep them closed so the intake flow is stopped.

Ok guys let just throw this out there, 1st, correct a hydrolocked motor will not run, 2nd, ingesting a small or nominal amount of water won't always lock up a motor, heres the sad part, just enough water will though bend a connecting rod therefore the motor will run but will knock as you said it was doing anyway. I've seen this many, many times before and no warranty won,t cover it. But it is probably saveable, yes it has to come apart, a good shop can identify which cylinder has water, at least 1 head will come off as the oil pan also. Next they will disconnect the rod pull the piston out from top, press a new rod on the piston and reassemble. Hopefully no furhter damage has occured while driving it, and I would'nt drive it any more. Good luck.

True, not getting water in there in the first place is always the best prevention.

You should ask Jason at performance nissan and get his opinion on this issue. In case you do need a new engine there are a couple in the privates for waaay cheaper than what Nissan would charge

thanks all .for the info- the dealer is full of sht, because i can drive the car. A hydrolocked motor can not be driven. Insurance is not paying so i should tell the dealer that they are full of **** because the hydrolock could not be driven, Also call the nissan rep in teh area to tell me exactly what caused the engine tapp. Nissan doesnt want to pay because they see perforomance parts on car- insurracne is saying they are not paying for a hydrolock because the car is drivable. I defintly need nissan rep to go over this because , lowering the car, exhaust, CAI wont cause the engien to tap (lifter noise)
