Please don't slam me for this...
...but my cousin asked me about this tornado thing and I told him that while it sounded like BS, I would post something about it on here and have someone more knowledgable than I am explain exactly WHY it's BS.
I appreciate any replies, as long as you don't call me stupid for not understanding why this thing would/wouldn't work.

yes logical arguement, if premise A is true, and premise A leads to conclusion B, the conclusion B must be true.
so while it is true that the apparatus will "swirl" the air, it is never substantiated that by swirling the air it will increase HP. it also is a big restriction to the air, something they dont mention.
waste of money.
oh and before you ask about the magnetic slip that goes on your fuel line and "breaks" down the gas molecules to get a better burn? gas is an organic molecule, all organic molecules are non-polar, hence a magnet would have NO effect on them.(tho even if they were polar, it would just align the molecules, it coule never hope to be powerful enough to overcome intermolecular bonds.)

Thanks ares
I always wondered about that Ion gas filter 5HP for 19.99 crap!
Didn't understand the science though.
Ans I am glad that we don't resort to "slamming" people here for asking questions. I really enjoy this group/forum and it's members!! It's addicting ..

I would say that we humans are made of "organic molecules" and I have seen what an MRI does (magnetic resonance imaging). It certainly does have an effect on our molecules (it aligns our hydrogen ions). So to say that magnets have no effect on organic things isn't entirely correct.

yeah, I said it aligns it, but first off, the molecules would unalign about 1mm after the magnet. and they dont even talk about "aligning" the molecules, only breaking them apart. I dont think an MRI breaks our molecules apart, thatd be a problem...

Taking a quick break from The Learning Channel, one more point about the tornado thingy.
The vehicles they "claim" improvements in all have one thing in common: a straight intake pipe. The reason being, the idea behind it is to take entropically conditioned airflow and smooth it out via vortexing. However, that idea would be out the window once the air takes it's first curve after the tornado. The air bouncing off the bend is going to send back into entropic flow charateristics.

Just like most parts including aftermarket intakes. Products will perform on a flow bench and show increases but that doesn't always carry over to real world conditions. The tornado actually did make gains on various engines but I can't find the post again that was done by someone just testing for the fun of it.
