It depends on the shop...

but expect anywhere from 400-500 not including cost of additional parts and alignment shims...

Did anyone have issues with the install? So far we have had to order bearings and now it looks like one of the gears wasn't the right size. Anyone have issues with their install?

I assume you are asking me. I had my 3.9 gears installed at Kinston Nissan in Kinston. That is were I got my car and they are very mod friendly. Also they installed a ring in pinion in another 350Z for a friend of mine about 2 months before they did mine. Let me know if you need more info or a contact there.

I decided to take the project on my own.. it takes around 4 hours total and I had never did one before. If you know what your doing and can understand the service manual, take the project on your own.. by plenty of spacers from Jason and return the ones you dont use. You will need a few special tools that are specified in the manual such as an backlash guage.. I woulda brought it somewhere to I just dont trust anyone with my car... if somthing goes wrong I want it to be my fault.

If you want to buy/borrow all the tools cheap let me know!

did you try re-using the factory VLSD or a different type when installing it?

Do you have the 350EVO or Central 20 ring and pinion?

I picked up the 350Evo 3.917 FD w/OEM VLSD. It was finally completed today and back in my possession. RPMs sure jump a lot quicker however I do notice a slight high pitched (almost a humming) noise when I am partially accelerated in 5th gear. Nothing in the lower gears.

No, we installed new bearings. Actually I fully tested all the gears and I am hearing this noise in 3rd and 5th. Predominantly in 5th at 4,000 RPMs but also the same sound (only quieter) in 3rd at 4,000 RPMs. Everything else is fine.
