A girl in distress. Transmission Grind.

Just the "GRIND" is adressed in the TSB. The notchyness & wierd second gear issues I have sometimes & as stated are typical though of most of the 350Z's. I guess it is just the way short shifter is from what I can tell.
The grind would be putting the car into gear with the clutch to the floor & then you hear & feel the metal on metal grind through the shift ****.
I would replace the tranny fluid & see if that helps with the knotchyness I think that it is like 60k or something that it has to be replaced. don't quote me on that one.
Yes, the answer is on the 1st page...plus the "search" button is useful.

My dealership returned my car saying could not duplicate once...I brought the car in for a dead xenon headlight at about 8k miles...I proceeded to walk over to my car with the service manager looking, flipped the headlight switch and said "that duplicate enough for ya?"

The search buttom comment was not directed at you because I could tell that you used it when you stated that you could only find the grinding issue on the forum.
If you search for the "Post here if you have had you Tranny replace" thread you will get like 20 pages of everyones accounts on the "grinding" issue.
The dealers can be *** holes because they lose money for warrenty work. Take it up with NNA not the consumer. I have know people to take pages of posts from this forum to them as well as guys who have helped us out by posting the TSB # & what it is says exactly, by cut & paste. I have been here from the start so I know most of the time it is on the site some place.
After about 6 months of the site & lawsuits through out the country dealers seem to be more "understanding" you still have to let them know that you are going to let them walk on you. Sad you have to do that after 30+ for a car.

Funny I have my Girls Z at naples Nissan Right now and they can not duplicate her notchy trans, 2 to 3 grind, 4 to 5 grind. Trans has popped out of 5th gear on the interstate when passing and has popped out of 2nd when accelerating. I am being treated poorly and I have called NNA and informed them of my History with Nissan being a former Infiniti master Tech and Owning 7 nissan/infiniti products over the last 10 years. Only 26yrs old...
And I thought Sutherlin Nissan was bad, but they have cleaned house on there service side so I might give them a try.
