Default transmission 5th&6th

Periodically my car won't shift into 5th and 6th while driving unless I knock the stick around in the neutral position a few times. I'm wondering if this is a common transmission flaw or if the problem might be related to the Nissan Motorsports short throw shifter I had installed at Mossy a little over a year back.

I tried to take the car in to Mossy a few months back when it first started having the problem, but the service manager insisted that his tech couldn't replicate the problem...now the problem is back and worse.

One of the problems I had with my Nissan Motor Sports (not NISMO Japan) shifter...

It uses a soft rubber bushing on the bottom of the shifter that goes into the trans linkage... It wears out fairly quickly, Mine got so bad I couldnt even put it into reverse... When I took out the shifter, I was able to move the tube that the bolt goes through as if it was in there freely...

Not sure of a way to get a replacement for that part...

I had to... I couldnt find a bushing to use in its place...

The rubber bushing on the bottom is a soft rubber... It deteriorates over time as you use the shifter... I guess from the heat or something... mine was so worn out, you didnt see any of it on the out side, just a small ring on the inside...

I just got off the phone with NISSAN Motor SPorts...

They are going to get a replacement kit / possibly polyurethane replacement going...

He said to give them 3-4 weeks to get something in the works...

Ill keep you updated... Im sure this is not going to be the only case of this if all the shifters have been like this...
