Default Too bad are cars are so dang hard to get hp!!

Was at the tuner today and there was an Evo 9 there that pulled 260 rwhp STOCK. Then they added a management system, redynoed at 300 rwhp. I was definitely jealous but I could never bring myself to liking that car. GTR where are you? LOL

maybe because he has a turbo and it's hella easy to swap a few basic parts out on a stock f/i car to pick up a lot of power; the same can be said for anything, even a VW turbo

Yea but if you look at it he is only making 300 rwhp at like 20 pound give or take they have to becouse like 99atlantic said they are turbo change few things for better air flow and crank the boost up you r making better power.

Now look at us we put a turbo kit on and at 8 pound we normally see 370's to 420's depending on bolt ons or tunning and thats tat we cant put big turbo's on our cars.

they start out with the same power as us, can get to 350awhp pretty easy (unlike us) but it starts to get expensiver after that. A TT Z at 450whp(ish) costs only 1-2 grand more than a similarly powered EVO (according to my cuz wsho has a 03evo...its probably much easier for the EVO9's)

On the Evo you can have 350whp for less than $800. To obtain that kind of HP in the 350 your looking a MIN $5000

Eh, I dunno I traded in my highly modified WRX for the 350Z. There is just something to be said about smooth, linear power from a NA motor. I do miss the rush of the turbo, but the low end torque and more predictable power delivery of the 350Z won me over. For about $2200 I picked up an additional 100hp with great driveability. The mods that followed were just icing on the cake and still yielded good gains for the money spent. I looked at an EVO or the updated STI as well, the STI IMO blows all of them away, but the looks and engine note of the Nissan swayed me towards going NA. Is it more expensive to upgrade? Absolutely, but I will not worry about blowing a piston, smog issues, or the pain of getting parts at insane costs anymore.

Yep, no new news here. Factory FI cars are always easy to get the first block of power out of. Even the 3rd Gen Rx7's can gain 40 whp from DP/MP and Exhaust. They are bottled up from the factory. In a factory FI car, you can effectively increase displacement merely by increasing boost a little.

Us N/A people especially with engines well tuned from the factory are trying to improve on an already optomized system. Most engines over 80 hp/liter are just not going to have a lot of HP locked up in inefficient Intake/Exhaust and other areas because the factory designers already optomized the systems fairly well, hence the reason we get over 80 HP/ Liter.
AFAIK, the VQ35 has the highest torque/liter of most engines. That signifies efficent cylinder filling and not something easy to improve upon. Maybe extending the range of the Tq curve.

I wouldn't say its a shame. More like our cars are very well engineered from the factory.

its really unfair to compare the hp gains from an na car to a FI like the evo. the evo can have more power just by upping the boost.

the z isnt all that bad at bolton gains for an na platform. its just expensive for what you get.
