Default AT 3.5 Pumpkin Swap Reliability

I found a MT 3.5 VLSD pumpkin for my AT. I wanted to hear from the folks who did the swap. Have you experianced any reliability issues with the AT having the 3.5 gearing?

My 350Z is my daily driver and need to know if I should swap it out...

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I had mine swapped out a month ago. No problems so far. Pulls hard. Still good for a daily driver.

keep in mind, you will loose your high end. For example, when runing 80miles/hour, your RPM was 3000, now it will be 3200-3300. I'll swap my next month too.

I've had mine swapped for nearly a year, no problems at all. You'll lose your cruise control though, but I never used it anyways.

I'm not sure why it is. It only seems to happen on the highway for me, I suspected that it had something to do with the manufacturer not wanting you to engage the cruise control at high speeds, but who knows.

I've heard of several other people having the same problem, this would actually be the first time I've heard of someone not having that problem.

I've got an '04 (not '04.5) G35 coupe btw.

hummm..i have cruise control at 80 to 90 miles/hour all the time. But you have G35. That might be the reason?

Most likely a difference between the older and newer ECUs. What year is yours?

I have the 3.5 in my 03 G35 . I lost cruise control . Well I can set it once and it will hold , but if I tap the brakes for traffic . It will not set again till I shut the car off . I think its because the rpm's are out of range for what the ECU is used to or set for at that speed

I have had the 3.5 FD in my 03 350Z for quite a while and many miles, long trips, very fast speeds and so forth. Cruise works perfectly and really no issues at all to speak of. I think this FD actually takes some load off the rest of the drivetrain and even though rpms are up a bit, in the long run may increase drivetrain longevity.

rpm up, isn't that your engine work harder = reduce?

Not necessarily. You are effectively reducing the amount of load on the drivetrain, much like reducing the weight of the car. If you do a lot of stop and go driving you will most likely reduce overall wear. If all you do is highway driving then the slight increase in rpms may overcome that benefit and be more of a negative. I can't believe that a few hundred rpm difference would yield that much of a problem down the road, but I may be wrong. Also, depending on where your rpms end up on the road and how your torque curve looks, you could actually be running at an rpm where the engine is more efficient and reduce overall gas mileage which may even increase the overall life of the drivetrain.
