Lightbulb ALL motor questions...

Just curious...what IF...

AEBS 4.3 stroker kit...11.5 to 1CR
The new cosworth heads... (not sure if that comes with cams or not)(im assuming so)

Ive read that just the stroker will get you 400hp (is this Rwhp???)
with the addition of those heads (which will allow up to 10500rpms )
What kind of power could you lay down???

Seems like a killer alternative than FI...expensive but in reality it seems about the same price if you factor in all the upkeep of turbos and chit that could go wrong

What you guys think???

The cost of going with the stroker motor is ridiculous at this point. Still waiting for other options to come out as that is just murder for NA

There is an affordable solution for about 7k from forged internals soon.

But you would see the same gains from a Stillen St3 without touching the motor.

IMHO, 400whp is definately possible with some killer cams and tuned if this setup existed.

But you're looking at + 10k for the motor alone!

it would be a steep price to pay...

7800 stroker
4300 heads
1300ish cams
~1000 flywheel/clutch
~900 Utec
not to mention other odds and ends
that alone is 15300...What I'm wondering tho...is in the long run how would this setup fair against an FI setup...reliability/longevity yada yada

It would be so sick to go with a setup like that... too bad the cost is so rediculous.

what makes u think that a stroked motor can rev that high? or make power up top? might want to research it a bit more.

I think he meant that the heads were capable of that.

i should clarify that i was refering to the heads alone being able to rev to 10500...depending on your rods you probably could rev to 10500 on a stroker...i believe the AEBS kits stroke is 90 or 91mm and stock is in the low to mid 80's (correct me if im wrong there as im not sure)...if money was no option then of course you could rev to insane rpms...but thats not really reality here

I heard that they have a target of this summer. I have no idea what a their crate motor will run but by looking at what the rods, pistons, and heads run I figure it will be $10,000+. The reliability of a NA motor racing on the road course track and having a spare motor makes it worth it for me. I could spend $7000 on a nice turbo setup but how long is my motor going to last me running in 100 degree temps and at or very near redline for hours at a time? I figure a FI motor will not last me long enough and that is why I can justify paying for a crate motor versus going FI.

After rebuilding a motor and going FI you will end up paying just as much or more than a NA crate motor which should last longer at the track. I have seen way to many turbo'ed cars not stand up to road race conditions.
