Default Brake question

I know this topic has been beaten into the ground, but I have a specific version of it. I'm considering a Performance model vs. a Track model - I plan on tracking the car often, and modifying the required bits (including a turbo upgrade down the road). I know the Track model brembo's are much better for track duty than the standard brakes, bow how good are these brakes overall. Would I have to upgrade them to match a 400 hp twin turbo powerplant, or would they be sufficient?

Thanks

Brad

I would say that if you are going to be modifying the car, then start with the least expensive version you can.

The performance is $4K-$5K less than the track. You can get an aftermarket brake upgrade for less than that ($2K for stoptech). Since you are modifying the car anyway, I would get the performance (or possibly even the enthusiast) and use the savings to help with the mods. What are you doing about wheels? If you plan on aftermarket wheels, or a second set of wheels, then you are losing one of the other benefits of the Track model. If that was my plan I would definitely go for one of the others.

Thanks D'oh,

Regarding the wheels, at the risk of sounding like a sheep I love the 18" Volk TE-37's on this car, and they're nice and light. I plan on upgrading to coilovers and probably a stiffer rear sway bar to start....eventually going with one of the bolt one of the 'milder' twin turbo kits after they've been tried/tested. My original idea was just to get the track model, the Ray's wheels are fine with me and fairly light - I was just wondering if I would eventually need to upgrade the Brembo brakes again (i.e. if they weren't up to snuff to stop a 400 hp 3200 lb car). If that were the case, I'd just go ahead and get a 'lesser' model and upgrade the brakes sooner than later with a set that wouldn't need further upgrading...

Thanks,

Brad
