Had mine installed on Friday. I immediately felt the difference. It didn't help my idle, but man can you tell that there's more spark there! The response is so much better. Also my gas milage seems to be better even with out a retune. I was getting 200 miles out of a full tank. I filled the car up after the install and I am at 126 miles at half a tank.

Wow, you car sucks gas if you get 200 miles out of a full tank, must be the turbos . Im getting 350-375 on full tank, n/a. So sounds like this mod would be worth to get to help on gas milage and feel a difference.

basically, this is pretty much the same with Sun Auto's Hyper Force System that RickDogg was selling. I just installed the Hyper Force one over the weekend and definitely immediately noticed reponse, smoothness of the car afterwards.

seems both provide new harness to connect to the direct coils and plug the original harness into the new one and the end of the new harness goes to the unit.

I felt a difference by simply plugging in the unit-feels smoother and gas mileage has indeed gone up a little. Here are 2 very quick pics I took. One is the unit and the harness going across to the drivers side of the motor (the white zip tie has been replaced by a black one-looks much better) and a shot from the drivers side. The unit in my car is simply tied up to a harness and doesnt move at all. I will be opening the gap about .010" and redynoing....

The HKS is an ignition amplifier like the MSD units. I dont understand how the Sun piece benifets the ignition at all, something about absorbing back EMI which improves plug voltage but they dont say how. I love Sun products, I have thier grounding kit and Hyper voltage but this sounds like black magic to me. I have a pretty good understanding of ignition systems so if someone can set me straight I might be a little more open to the concept. My money is still going towards the HKS unit, I'll take a higher voltage ignition over some kind of absorber or buffer any day.

No you dont. You unplug the stock clips going to each coil pack. You then plug that into male connector of the HKS harness, then take the other femael connector of the HKS harness for that cylinder and plug it into the coil pack. So every cylinder harness has 2 plugs on the HKS unit-its plug and play. It took me about 30 minutes to install it having to remove the MAF/up intake pipe from the turbo kit. Besides the plug and play all you have to do is run 1 ground wire coming off the DLI box and your good to go.

I'd sure like to buy one but I need some objective evidence that it actually improves performance. When is somebody going to post some before and after dyno charts?

Just go onto Supraforums.com and do some reading. They have coil on plug just like us and every high hp Supra I know runs the DLI and it makes a nice difference. More complete burn and better gas milage due to this more complete burn during part throttle and light throttle. Hell, you can even tell a difference during free-reving.
