Default info needed: diff / tranny fluid change

Anyone's feedback is appreciated... here is the thing....

I drained the diff and about 1.3 L came out of the diff... ugly color, smelled like **** with metal dust shavings on the drain plug.

Now, the manual says the diff takes 1.4L (1.5 qts) and when refilling, check fluid level with finger (fluid level should be level with fill plug).

Now I've put in almost 1.8L and can't still feel the oil with my finger... is this normal? Should I put 1.4L or should I fill until fluid is level with fill plug?

thanks...

Fill it all the way! I've changed it several times & it takes at least 1 3/4 qts (more or less...depending on spillage - ha!!).

spillage is a biatch... I have tranny oil in my hair!

thanks for the feedback... that is about what I put in it. Went for a test drive and if feels good (exactly as before, lol!). Couldn't do the tranny because I was a cheapass and only got 5 qts for both diff and tranny... will do that tomorrow.

Royal Purple is really purple, it's like engine candy
