Finally Cosworth Heads!
I finally got my Cosworth heads in yesterday. Here are some pics.
Cosworth also sent a brochure. The brochure talks about how the heads are designed with not only maximum air flow in mind but also port velocity. The brochure also talks about the cams but doesn't say when they will be released. The Cosworth trimetal bearings also supposed to reduce friction and be good up to 1000 hp.

Cosworth heads are CNC ported vs. hand ported. There are two schools of thought on port finish. Some people will tell you that a smooth port actually reduces velocity, vs. a rougher finish. (think of the dimples in a golf ball). People much smarter than both of us, could debate this for ages. Not worth the time..IMHO. All I can say, is that Cosworth probably knows a thing or two about head porting and engine building, since they have more experience in professional road racing that almost any outfit: WRC, IRL, etc..etc.. It's all good!

Philthy, those look alot smoother. The Cosworth heads look rougher than they actually feel though. You can't really feel the ridges, well at least I can't.
Sharif, let me know the specs on the cams as soon as you find out so I know which direction I need to go. I will more than likely be doing the short block as well.
I have attached the heads flow chart below.

Dave's heads are the bomb, and there's a reason why many of the fastest cars and a bunch of world records were set with his heads.
Let's see them babies make some power!

How much HP did you make with Dave's heads over stock?
Do you have any info supporting what your saying?
Or is just based on how they look?

Go with what you want - Cosworth is a good company, and Dave is know as one of the best head guys in the world. Dave has dozens of cars running his heads and making a ton of power - Cosworth has just shipped their first set of heads...
What's your supporting info, a flow chart - lol just stop... Let's just wait and see how they perform.

Philty and Red are just posting pics...which we all know...are nice to look at. Becuase its nearly impossible to have an apples to apples performance comparo between different heads, getting objective real-world results will be nearly impossible. I would feel comfortable using either head design, and I am sure the end-users will be thrilled with the end results.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to tell anyone how good the heads by themselves perform since I am putting cams in as well. I can tell you that the intake ports do not look rough like the exhaust ports. I am assuming there is a reason for that.

I would love to hear more about Dave's heads on "Another" thread
Edit: Higher flow numbers do not always mean more HP

Ok - sorry to post information about heads on a heads threads...
I thought it would be a good way to start a discussion on the differences between the two heads - smooth vs. rough wasn't the point of the pictures, there are major differences in the two heads that we will not discuss on this thread - I guess...
