oh see i thought that as long as you had proof that it was their part that screwed up then it would be covered, in most cases anyway. But since you bring up the FI situations it makes more sense.

The instructions of 30lb/ft. is ridiculous. It's 36lb/ft. + 60 degrees..it's the same as the stock pulley torque specs in the shop manual. Any GOOD mechanic should know this. How could a mechanic tighten a crank pulley to 30lb/ft. and think that that's acceptable? Get a new mechanic.
Anyways, install was a breeze other than lining up the recess for the key on the pulley. Just take your time and ease it on. You'll know when it's on because the pulley will line up with the other pulleys (the belt line) and it will feel snug.
well, he sure hasnt done any work after the car broke down... he installed my exhaust, but that vibrates like hell now (i think cause its not welded) and i am gonna take it to my mechanic here that specializes in exhaust to see what he can do. For his part, he did torque it down to 50 lb ft, cause he thought 30 was way too low, but it still was not enough. However, the instructions still said 36 lb ft. Oh well, I'll see what the lawyer man says and go from there, cause damn I would love to have that $4k back.

How did you make out installing the pulley? I attempted this weekend but was unable to get the crank bolt off. It seemed that every time i would torque on the bolt, the pulley still had give (even when the car was in sixth gear as recommended). I'm using a large 1/2in drive wrench to remove the bolt and it still refuses to budge. The KJR instructions recommend resting the car down on the ground with the wrench secured against the ground as well and cranking the engine!! Doesn't really sound like a good idea to me. Has anyone found an alternate way of either securing the pulley or removing the crank bolt in general?

It went well and no troubles at all. I went over there sometime last week and helped him. What we did was the same as I did with mine. I just used a 3-4' pipe that could fit over the wrenches handle and used it to get the bolt off. Comes off very easily that way since you have so much leverage with it. Just make sure when you are doing it you have someone basically stand on the brake while its in 6th or the crank will spin.
