Getting one soon. I'll probably install it myself.

bro personally be careful sometimes is better to just pay like $80 the later on have to pay for a new crank a member here has to get a new crank because he did it himself and because the heat it got stuck so they cant take it out. But if you have all the tools then go for it.

If I can install it you can. It's probably bolt-on 101.

Get a big pipe to get some leverage for getting the bolt out.

If you have an auto let me know and I tell you how to keep the engine from moving.

Great mod BTW. My son noticed a difference from the passenger seat. Engine seems less sluggish.

On the scale of 1 to 10, this one is about a 3½ on the difficulty meter. Installing is no problem, it's removing the bolt from the OEM pulley that's the b!tch. You'll need a big breaker bar and an assistant. You should have a torque wrench to put the KJR on with.

Tip: Count the number of turns you loosen the idler tension bolts when taking the belts off. Tighten them up the same number of turns after installing the KJR.

unlike other some other mods it doesnt matter if you get this installed by a professional and your motor ***** up. my valves got bent because of the pulley and they wouldn't cover it! even though it was installed by a mechanic, I had the reciept, and it was installed to their instructions (WRONG) and they still would not help me out one damn bit. just a little personal experience with KJR.

yes, the pulley was installed to the specifications in the instructions, which was about 30 lb ft not enough, and over time the pulley spun unevenly, eventually sheering off a piece of aluminum from the back of the pulley, onto/into the timing chain, causing the engine to jump time and bend the valves. i have the $4000 bill to prove it too.

That seems reasonable. Sorry to hear about that.

Thanks, it wasn't the greatest when I was in Missouri at a Clay target competition and my fiance calls and says my car won't run at all.

Anyway, my warning to the OP was beware because it may be a good product, but unless you drive to chicago or wherever they are located, and have them install it, there is basically no warranty. I am still considering legal action, cause that was a big cut out of my wallet. I really didnt want it to be that way, but the only thing they were willing to do was send me a new pulley, but I never got it and never got word from them on it.

So, summary - just don't **** it up, cause you will be left high and dry.

So, you think that the pulley not being tight enough is what caused it?

that was what i suspected from the beginning and what was confirmed by the mechanic that did the work. We looked at the motor after he pulled it (i ended up replacing the motor with one that had 8k miles on it, cause nissan wanted $7k for a new one) and there was a groove in the pulley and obviously the sheered piece of metal left in the motor. I wasnt able to get a picture of the motor before it was sent back to Z1 for the core exchange, but I still have the pulley. I will take a picture of it this weekend and post it up.

I looked at the instructions that I gave the mechanic (a different one) that installed the pulley, and when they discuss how to tighten the pulley back down, it says something like 45 lb ft, but what they left out was the additional 60 degree turn, and this was not done.

they claimed they informed everyone about the mistake, but if they did, why would I not have gotten it done? If they did in fact send out notification, I must not have recieved it. Actually, if anyone has it, that would be great! I would love to see it.

Yours must have been one of the first ones bought and installed. I got mine during the initial group buy and do recall the "problem" with the instructions. When I read it I thought that only 30 ft-lbs was kinda low. Fortunately, I've learned to only use other peoples instructions as a guide. The correct procedure for tightening the bolt is in the Service Manual which several of us pointed out here.

That's pretty much the way it is with ALL aftermarket parts. The only warranty you get is on the part itself. You assume all risk and liability when you do it yourself. Read through the Forced Induction forum if you want to see some sad tales of blown engines and big $$$$ thrown down the drain.
