Me too, Ive had 3 Zs now(240, 260 2+2, and current 92 300ZX 2+2) but I think I'll just wait a year or two and see what Nissan does with the Z, they obviously have something FI planned for the Z, look at the page in your owners manual about maintenance on a turbo model

if you will not pay for that then pay for the HKS create engine. which is 450hp then go after Power Enterprise turbo kit.

Not on pump gas and not for everyday applications.

Ya I heard HKS is making a stroker kit for the 350z that will bump

up the displacement to 3.8L I think its the same as the crate

engine with pistons, rods, cams, and crank. I think that would

cost about 9 grand. I wonder what the numbers are for the

power enterprize kit. Anyone know?

First off, the term is "crate" motor but wasnt that a straight race motor they were making for the Grand Am series?

Yep, its been posted up here a couple times, also a blurb about an upcoming turbo model in Car&Driver and this from the general forum https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=20120
Also the fact that thousands of Skyline fanatics in Japan would throw riots if they didnt come out with a turbo model for the GTR

I appreciate all of the concern for durability of SC/TT the Z motor but the other option not mentioned is if NISMO is coming out with a SC or TT for the Z aftermarket. If so, Nissan is putting their name on it thus it should be much more reliable. That is the option I am hoping for. Nissan is playing with a Turbo version of this motor. What I do not know is if they did major mods on the motor to make it work.

As far as I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I don't think you can turbo that kind of engine without some pretty crazy custom work. That engine has velocity stacks, which basically replace the standard intake manifold, each with seperate throttle bodies. Each cylinder gets it's own direct air supply. To turbo that, you'd have to make some kind of air box over the velocity stacks that suck in air pushed in by the turbo. But there's no standard set-up for that, so you'd have to have it all done custom (biiiiiiig $$$). Anyone know the compression ratio on that motor? It's probably already higher than stock, making turbo even less feasible.

heh, no way, that is a very highly developed NA motor, if you think there is a small window to run boost on a stock 350Z motor, there is absolutly none on that one and yes, velocity stacks with individual TB injection is a straight high volume top-end power mod, you would have to creat a presurtized manifold to use a turbo on a set up like that.

this is sort of an amateur question cause i just got my lisence and ive been into cars for about a year or 2...

whats the difference between a turbocharger and supercharger..are they both FI...which one is safer on the existing engine...and how many new parts (besides the kit) do you need to buy for your existing engine to handle the new power

does a 5000 turbo/supercharger turn into a 8000 project??

Go read the I-M-racing.com site again. Then read it again. If you still don't see what wrong assumtion you made, read it again! They are talking about Greddy's prototype CAR, not the turbo kit. They have done a crapload more than just turbo on the thing.
