Snice there is a 2-3yr age limit. Although I would suggest in this order snice you are looking for modding purpose:
1) Evo 8/9 RS
2) WRX STi
3) 350Z Track

I recommend the Evo RS cause it is striped of some weight. I also recommend it first cause of the amount of power that can be made with little investment. The 4G63T motor has been around for almost 20 yrs and there are alot of DSM parts for it. I've heard of Evo's making 300+whp for around $1k-$1500.

I recommend the WRX STi next cause of the same power gains for little cost.

I say the 350Z last cause I'm under the impresstion you are looking to be a dyno king. Its going to take a good amount of money to make big numbers with the VQ35. F/I is going to have to be your route. But you'll have an awesome car and a RWD Sport Coupe is a lot more fun to drive than AWD.

BTW: I used to own an '03 Evo 8.

Good Luck!!!

Hey thanks for the feeback I appreciate it. I am most interested in a track car setup rather than pure power/straight line acceleration.

STI & EVO's mod per dollar are your best bet... $1500.00 in either car will net you aprx 330whp/350wtq - another 2k and you're over 400whp with out any drama...

I love the Z/ and my G - but it's more expensive to mod vs the STI/EVO...
+1

Forced induction cars like those have more potential plus its cheaper to mod.
