Default UR Pulley Just Installed!!!

Yesterday I completed the install of my UR crank pulley. Install wasn't too bad. A good DIY project. I thought I would have had to take it to a mechanic to get the pulley off, it was stuck at first, but with patients and time it eventually came off. It says on the instructions to wait 5-7 days to notice gains (which thus far have not noticed). The engine revs a bit faster in neutral. Just thought I’d share my experience.

Congrats!!! You'll enjoy the smoother rev. The crank pulley is the best buy. The kit is a waste of money im my opinion. The other two pullies are pretty much the same weight and size. I give the UR Crank pulley as a best bang for buck mod.

Stay away from the UR pullies... when i triedto have mine taken off, for my supercharger install, we nearly had to remove the engine. The bolt securing the pulley to the crank is steel, and the pulley aluminum. The bult will eat itself into the pulley, causing somewhat of a welding effect. I'd just keep an eye on it, to avoid the hassel in the long run.

I've had my crank pulley for over 6 months w/o any problems. I also don't recall any bolt problems.

the gain is hardly noticeable but there is definitely an improvement in throttle response. i'd paint it black to look stock if i was you. The belt might need to be re-tightened in a couple of weeks if it squeels. Very nice mod.

Yes, Anti-seize compound is an absolute necessity. I believe the instructions for the KJR pulley mention it, not sure about the UR pulleys. Any time you join dissimilar metals you have to be careful to prevent galling.

The other 2 pulleys are of factory size and offer no gain... Only the crank pulley offers gain on the 350Z...

I put the anti-seize compound on the inner bore of the pulley (where the pulley is connected to the crank shaft). Hopefully I am not going to have any problems. I think I might feel some gains after I install my plenum spacer and grounding kit today. (if the grounding kit even does anything) I figured I should install all my mods at once so I could feel the gains a little better.

I only had the crank pulley. The other pulleys are useless as far as gains go. Maybe good for show cars.

It's simple - the compound I got is in stick form, about the size of a glue stick that you get for gluing paper. I take the bolt and drag the threads across the end of the stick and the threads will pick up some of the compound. As you screw the bolt in, the compound gets spread around the nut/threaded part. It doesn't take a lot, you're just trying to coat everything with a fine layer.

It's only for metal to metal contact so you don't want to get any on the belts or anything else for that matter.

Here's the one I use:

One thing I have definitley noticed since the install, low rpm acceleration and accleration from a stop is much quicker! The Z used to take a little longer to get going.
