Default Attention Everyone who has brought their car to Scott Performance!

That Dastek Load Based Dyno is bull****! When i had brought my car to Scott Performance nearly 4 months ago, i had the SP Grind cams and titanium retainers and valvesprings done , Ted said that it made 311rwhp, TUNED! with the UNICHIP!. i felt my car never really felt like it had that much power to the wheels, so after months of not doing anything about it, i had my car checked out at ZCARGARAGE. Rob was very nice and helpful and told me he would check out my car for me. The strapped it on their dyno, and low and behold, i made a whopping 253rwhp!!!!! to use nicer terms, i was @#$%^$% pissed!, and they told me my car was running untuned!!! tuned on their dyno i made 263rwhp. i guess that's not that bad, but i had spent nearly 3g's on the cams to make it do this. OH THE BEST PART!!! the cams did absolutely nothing after 6600 rpms. and Rob said that the car runs almost identical to a JWT cammed car. so for all you guys that got your car dynoed at Scott Performance, you better get it dynoed again. I hate my car.......

What kind of Dyno was he using at Scotts?
I have never seen a company get so many bad threads in one week since the old David Stoner 350zforums.org episode.. Keep in mind, you can not compare dyno to dyno..Every dyno will differ in readings..

Scotts Performance uses a Dastek dyno.

Im not surprised. I put a hamster on a wheel on a Dastek dyno and it did 300whp and pulled to 10,000rpm's. Nice to see people actually are learning that dyno is on crack and their claims are as well. Dont hate your car, get on yourself for not being informed or listening to people that know, I know Ive posted myself many times on BS dynos/dynojet corrections to help people see the truth, but thats another thread.

dont you thinkt 263hp is already low considering you have every bolt on and a copied version of the JWT cams?

True, but keep some things in mind.
1. The dyno jet is not the only dyno in the world
2. all types of dynos utilize some form of corection factor to some extent for weather,altitude,temperature,ect..
3.Any time I posted a Dynojet simulated number, people called BS and mentioned the correction factor.
4.Any time I posted a NON-Corrected number, everyone said "great, that means your making 260-265 on a Dyno Jet" and applied the same correction in their heads that I just got called BS on, by the same people..
Bottom line is you cant compare apples to oranges and you cant please everyone..

Thats true, and after all a dyno is more of a tool than a mark of performance. At least thats what I've been told many times...

ZC is rival of SP soooo...is it complete true result?. Have you try to dyno at a different shop to verify the gain/loss #?

There are shady shops out there that make it hard for us honest ones.

+1..but to the unsuspecting customer I don't see it as impossible. I mean is is internal work afterall.

Now I think I understand why Marluci lost a few races with his 700+whp engine....

+1 about marin's car. not to bash on his car as it sure as hell is one mean 350z, but if his car was infact pushing nearly 715 rwhp, i think he should have done a little better against that 911 turbo that totally annihilated him. p.s. Marin, your car is fast as *****, please don't be offended.

It sounds like your unichip somehow reset itself since you had sudden power loss since your initial install. I just got a unichip installed today at Z Car Gargage today and came up with 249 hp. All of my gains were in the mid range with no extra peah hp. It should help me pull out of corners. Your car is strong at 260+.
Do you have a dyno to post?

I'm not sure if it were BS or not but I thought someone said that Porsche had a ridiculous amount of power. I can't remember the number, but I thought it was way higher than Marin's.
