Yeah thats the S1 Motor kit... Labor alone looking around 3K... wont work on US Z's if I remember correctly because of the difference in ECU...

I think its somewhere along 9-12K USD... if I remember correctly...

6800.00 US and it says it is an upgrade from s1 to s2....Why wouldn't it work, it's engine internals just like Cosworth or JWT ?? Not sure what that has to do with the ECU if it is tuned properly.

the ECU that comes with the kit wont work with the US models...

you can get the kit and do your own tune I suppose... but cant guarantee thats gonna make it worth anything...

You will not be able to get that unless you have already got a S1 kit and you ship your engine to Japan to get the works carried out at Nismo Omori Factory (International department)... It isn't just about money or the ECU... Nismo will not even sell you the S1 kit to begin with if you don't get your engine built over there... I have been there and done that, that was why I was using motec for my S1 kit (bought those parts separately)...

cheers,

richie

This is exactly what I want to do, the s1 upgrades. Did you use all Nismo parts? Where did you get them from?

I find it odd that folks remark that $7000 for a Spec-2 Nismo kit is a waste. I'd rather spend $7000 on those parts and get 100% reliable, consistent, and well engineered 300+hp at the wheels, NA, then spend that much on a turbo kit that will only give me reliability problems later so I have 400hp I will never be able to use.

That such a complete kit even exists is mind blowing. I think it's a great deal when you line this cost up vs piecing it together (spec 1 or 2).

Go for it Freak!

I think most people think that no matter how reliable, consistent, or well engineered the spec2 may be, 300+whp may not be worth spending $7000. People are all about right now, saving money, and most power gains per dollar spent. You're basically spending $100 for 1 whp. Plus, all the headaches trying to communicate overseas, shipping, all the wait time, etc. It's so much easier to go FI, safely tune it, set it to low boost, and call it a day.

I think both options have pro's and con's but with the NA option the headache only exists in the begining, once the engine is done it's done....the constant worry that FI brings I feel would be more of a headache.....I do not track my car and I do not drag my car......300-320whp for a street car is plenty enough for me. I almost died in a stock one that had 230whp so 70-80 more HP on a car that i do not have to worry too much about would be greatness...let the NA tuning begin.

Z freak,

I got those parts from my family friend downunder... he has great connection with Nismo (as he is the sole distributor of many japanses tuning brands here), so I got those parts fairly fast - 2 months time... You can get those parts from www.japanparts.com separately, but you will never be able to get the nismo ECU, engine cover as well as the intake tube + airbox... you will need to custom made those parts just like what I did... Right now, your best choice will be the motec m600/m800 computer since they are the only 2 in the market that can control cam timings... but I never know what sort of power will the car produce if you just simply leave the cam operations to the stock ECU though... you might want to give it a try!

To me, N/A power is always great since I enjoy driving at high rev and listen to the engine noise at 8000rpm... but after spending so much money on the engine, sometimes I just feel a bit disappointed compare to those FI cars' powers. But hey, that's the nature of the N/A tune... So make a right choice before you spend your money and make sure you already know what to expect (a set of high compression pistons 11.5:1 will only gain you max. 10rwHP or so, don't expect too much)... hope it helps!

cheers,

richie

Thanks Richie.....I think I am going to go N/A, I am well aware of the hp FI produces as one of my good friends has an APS TT in his 03.....I want durability and solid power and i feel I can accomplish this with an S1 tune....I know it will be expensive but i am prepared for that cost otherwise I would not waste everybodies time with this discussion. Do you mind if once i get started if i have any questions can i shoot you a pm? Thanks....
