Hey guys,
For some reason I notice a a reluctance when switching from 1st to 2nd gear. I'm not all too mechanically inclined, therefore I'm not sure what could cause this. I was hoping you guys could help me out. It seems like I have to more or less force it in to 2nd gear rather shift with ease. Thanks in advance.

this is fairly a common trait of the Z. its very "notchy" going into 2nd, unless you hear a grinding sound consider it normal. ive has 2 transmissons and both have been hard going into 2nd. for me its worse when you start the car up after you go a little ways down the road it gets a little better but never perfect

i had trouble at first driving the z. i use to try to shift as fast as possible and take my foot out of the clutch too fast from 1st to 2nd therefore mising the gear and going into neutral....maybe thats what your doing?

Yea, I misshifted a couple times in the beginning but I've gotten used to it and I'm pretty sure I'm shifting correctly. I don't hear any grinding sounds so I guess nothings wrong. However, it just seems more notchy than before. Maybe its just in my head

i get that problem with my 06 as well. for 1st to 2nd shifting i just step further down on the clutch and it shifts smoothly. for other gears i can pretty much tap the clutch and shift...

I had the original tranny in an 05 and it was very notchy. 5th gear began to grind and it was replaced under warranty for the 009 revision transmission. This 009 is MUCH better. I dont have to fight the gears to let me switch. Instead, when i want to shift, it feels like it just pops into palce. They definately fixed something because its much smoother.

BTW throughthefire, if you go to the dealer they will also tell you there is nothing wrong. You'll get used to it.
