Default 5th Gear Grind

I have a 06 Base Z and lately the car have been grinding when i shift to 5th gear. Does it have anything to do with the clutch wearing out?? my car has about 13k miles. This happens when i go from 4th to 5th and 6th to 5th too. It happens once in a awhile even when i granny shift.

repairing forum sticky... (I have no idea how you have been a member this long and didn't know about tranny grind problems)

take it in for warranty service, IF AND ONLY IF you can reproduce the problem on a test drive. If you give the car to the dealer to test drive, they will most likely say they can't reproduce the problem.

Go to Superior Nissan in Fremont.. Tell em what happens and im pretty sure they'll fix it. You wont have to go on a test drive and reproduce the sound.. and least i didnt..

Try shifting into 5th without pushing too far to the top right. I noticed a similar problem when I had my clutch replaced. I started shifting into fifth without jamming it in the far right corner and it shifts smooth. Let me know if this is any help.

wait until the issue becomes easily reproducible. it'll save you time and money. If they don't find an issue, they can charge you money for a 'service' fee.
