Nasty Wheel hop, how do we get rid of it?
I haven't experienced wheel hop either, but I haven't launched from high RPM's. Usually save my tires and get on it at after moving at 15 MPH or so.
It could be your tire pressure causing the hop. Maybe too high.
2003Z: what did you do to get wheel spin "through 2nd gear" (up to 60? or even 40 MPH?) . I didn't feel that the car had enough power to do that. Did you launch at 3500 RPM's ? I don't want to try because of the tire wear.

and I've spun them all the way through 2nd gear

No launched at 1500-2000 at the autocross, but it was about 38 degrees out. When I had the Rays on the G35 auto with the shitty bridgestones, launched from a dead stop in drive and spun them to redline also, in the cold.
side note, was chirping in 3rd today at 56 degrees

I have also had a bad problem with wheel hop. My car hopped like a jackhammer in first gear when I had the stock 17's and tires on. Even if I engaged the clutch in first gear then floored it, when the tires lit up the hopped so bad you HAD to let off. 2nd gear would usually hop to when shifting hard. With the new 19's and Toyo tires, wheel hop in first gear is more manageable, and 2nd gear spins perfectly smooth. Maybe if I could launch mine better I wouldn't get as much wheel hop.
I've got the first gear wheel hop problem too. Even if I take it easy on the start and then give a lot of gas mid way through 1st I will get some wheel hop. I usually just short shift. 2nd gear only hops for me if triggered by bumps in the road that set it in motion.
The solution is to simply drive on curvy roads and power out of corners--no wheel hop for me when doing this.

I have also never experienced the wheel hop that others have, and I'm prone to do a lot of street racing as well. As for the wheel spinning, I've gotten them to spin through 3rd as well on dry pavement. You just have to play with the clutch and throttle a bit. And you know that's gotta be good for the tires.

Well, you can visibly see wear on my tires, i've done some, actually quite a few burnouts in the past. i have almost 9K miles on them, and I was staying as close to redline as humanly possible. And I wasn't actually going 60, I was somewhat stationary at the time.
I have 2.7K miles (good tread) and barely get a chirp at 2nd gear, after taking 1st to redline (I do almost all the time). Is my car a dog? BTW, the only time I got the chirp is when I turned off traction control.

No, your car's not a dog, and there's no way anyone can do anything more than a chirp with tcs on. The way I burn out in 2nd is drop the clutch at about 6k rpm. I also can't hesitate while shifting gears or I loose the burn.
This is a common problem with the Z32s like mine. On our cars its due to the soft subframe bushings. There are a couple companies making poly or even aluminum subframe bushings for Z32s and this basically eliminates the problem. the Z33s have the same kind of subframe with soft bushings so the same fix would probably work too, though Im sure the Z32 bushings would be different from the Z33s
well the aluminum ones are not for the faint of heart, but the polys are just fine
it all depends on what you want out of your car, the subframe is a compromise they made to isolate the suspension and give an nicer ride, a nicer ride is not my top priority so I can live with a bit more of the road transfered to the body. Also keep in mind that if you do stiffen the rest of the suspension(springs, struts) even more enrgy will be transfered to the soft subframe bushings which are now the weak link in the suspension, and will flex(wheel hop) even more

cars with independent rear suspensions can sometimes be prone to wheel hop. although i havent noticed it with mine, my last car had a horrible problem with it. the answer would more than likely be in stiffer shocks. since it is their job to keep the tire in contact with the road. just wondering out loud........
true, just replacing the bushings will not totaly eliminate wheel hop in and of themselves, but in Z32s their weakness was detected after people put in stiffer springs/struts, the wheel hop persisted until they were stiffened as well, they should be available soon i would imagine
