Wheel hop DEVISTATED my 1/4 times last weekend. THE car just jackhammered for 2+ seconds before making any movement forward. 19's, Bridgestones, and a SLIP of the clutch and it STILL did it. It was embarrasing as hell.

I get NASTY wheel hop when i try to burn out. Im curious to see which companys are/will be making the subframe bushings. The wheelhop is almost unbearable. Does anyone know when someone will start making new bushings? This might be my first 'mod.'

The 350Z ride is BY FAR the stiffest ride I have ever experienced in a car that I've owned. I have had an RX7, three 300ZX's (two modified NA's one modified TT) and one BMW M3. Until I got the 350Z, the M3 was the stiffest, even stiffer than the 300ZX TT with sport suspension switched on. To make the 350Z even stiffer in order to get rid of the wheel hop, for me, would be intolorable since it is also my commuting car. I don't know the answer, but I also don't think stiffer is the answer. This is because my other cars rarely hopped (with strong launches), and some of them had much softer suspensions. The 350Z has only hopped a few times also. Maybe it's a mismatch as has been mentioned. Maybe something can be made softer, instead of stiffer; it worked on the other cars.

For those that don't know, you'll want to go with a graphite impregnated poly bushing for street use. If you go with a cheap poly bushing without the graphite it will squeak allot, and you will have to lubricate them a few times a year. I made this mistake on my old 280zx, and it bugged the crap out of me.

Default Wheel hop

Just an observation. My 5AT has no wheel hop whatsoever, even w/preload launching and moderate wheelspin. Not sure if the torque converter is not loading the suspension quite as quickly as the clutch/pressure plate in the 6MT, or it is a more even loading. I suspect it is not hammering (winding up) the suspension as suddenly as the manual is. A 6MT was running also and I watched his wheel hop aggravation and marveled that I was getting none and ran 14.1 to his best of 14.6.
Not an answer for your 6MT wheel hop issues, (5AT vs. 6MT) but perhaps a change in launch is in order and see what happens?
I just changed from the stock 17's to 18's with 275/40's on the rear and I know these will hook up much more than the oem 040's and I may now experience wheel hop too! I will run either this Wed. nite or Saturday and I'll post the result. Regards, Jim

Im not even going to TELL you what I was running. I dont consider myself a bad driver either. Infact, I think im pretty good. My trap speeds were right around 100mph consistently but the damn car would take 2.5+ seconds to go 60 feet. I was angry and embarrased by that. I could get my avenger on juice to do it in 1.7-1.9 w/no problems

It has to be the way im slipping the clutch. It just seems i shouldnt have to GRANDMA this thing to get it to leave the line right.
