I have a 2004 Base, and she has the Cusco RS 1.5 at 100% lock.

If the Quaife was available when I had bought mine I would have bought the Quaife since it was designed for the Base axle stubs and all in all would have been the cheaper buy.

Though it was just coming out and I already bought the Cusco, got what I needed or thought I did (there was a mistake though Sharif@Forged saved the day )...

Anywho I am familiar with Quaife's from Honda's/Acura's/SRT-4's, so I know it is good stuff.

Though I like my Cusco too, I have not heard of any noise from it... Though since it is at 100% the tires kick at low speeds and while turning.

I agree. Happy to hear that despite the features on a base model, essential extras for the base can still be integrated.

What if I just want the stock VLSD in my 06' base model M/T. Yeah, I realize that I should have just gotten a Enthusiast model, but I'll be the first one to say I made a bad decision. Oh well. Will all VLSD from any model fit into mine? and I don't understand the 3.5-3.9.

I see where some folks are swapping the entire pumpkin rather than installing new guts back there. It's a real cost/time saver.

Hindsight is 20/20. I would have gotten the Enthus too if I knew my Base's limitation for autoX is the vLSD. Seems like wether i'm buying new or used, I'll be spending $800-$1400 (plus install) if I want LSD. So the question is, can us Base owners overcome the disadvantages of no-LSD on the track? I heard we can whip out the rear end to 'straighten the car' without the need to turn.

Anyone know where I can score a complete pumpkin? I just got HIDs, now all I need is the LSD to make my poorman's enthusiast complete!

How much you pay for HIDs? I bought some used one for $600 for both complete assemblys.

I just bought the plug and play kit from another member for $170. I'm going to use my headlights until I can get enough scratch to get the actual HID headlights.

Great tires??

The only thing I can think of is to find a median in the Z's suspension setup where it is neutral in corner entry.

After coilovers and camber-alignment my car oversteers a bit, but it takes a bit of effort to get the tail to purposely swing out due to the beefier tires out back. If i could dial a more neutral setup with some sways it'd be perfect. This is without an LSD of course...i figure if I ever get real serious, a clutch-type is in order.

You did nothing wrong! I bought this car for one thing, to drag! Its the lightest model('03) and I can choose which LSD is right for my needs. There's a place here in town that sells complete pumpkin swaps with VLSD for $450. Thats a lot less then you'll pay from the dealer!

If it was a daily driver, I guess I'd been more concerned with comfort features, but in the end, the weight of the car is too important when racing other cars, Z's especially!

Oh, and the fact that the original owner upgraded to leather seats was a definite +!

With all that being said, I'm saving for the quaife.
