i am getting nismo 3.9 gearing in the back and want to do the LSD at the same time because its cheaper that way (with labor). so my question is should i go with a 1.5 or 2 way diff. (why/why not) and which company. Thanks for the input.

Generally, a 2-way is going to be too aggressive on the street. 1.5-way is usually what's recommended if you ask any of the producers.
the only LSD that works and feels like an open diff is Quaiffe!! (Not to mention it's the only gear driven LSD available) The other brands use plates which pop and crackle @ low speed cornering

All you have to do is adjust the clamping force by re-arranging the drive and driven plates. The Quaife is great for road course work, but the clutch type are much better for any kind of drag racing.

The Quaife is good for the street...it's less than ideal for anything else though (serious road coarse, drag, or even cars with stiff suspensions). I have a Cusco RS in my car - it is silent, and does not pop or make any noises at all
