Default WEAPON R Torque Damper

Hey everyone....I've searched the forums and haven't found anyone who's installed a Weapon R Torque Damper (product #WR-DK-959-111-110) on their Z yet. It appears to be good quality but it is $$$ (about $170 to $200). What I want to know is if it mounts to the strut tower (easy) or if it's like the Stillen and mounts to the firewall (very hard). I'm not a fan of the Stillen approach...it may work but I've heard too many complaints about the install, vibration, and Stillen's crappy service.
So, anyone with knowledge on the Weapon R? (P.S. I've looked for a Pro 1 torque damper but cannot find one for 350Z fitment...other people have asked about Pro 1 in other threads too...anybody with knowledge on this too?)

Thanks eveyone!!

I got the stillen engine and master cylinder dampers. i had my shop install them and they work great. i don't notice any vibration, i have better brake feel and the engine doesnt rock. might be a pain to install, but they work, imo.

yes, i agree, the stillen will vibrate loose, you have to keep an eye on it. i hae not had this problem for a while, but it happened in the past, i just had to always tighten it....

it's a nice unit tho, just really hard to install cus of the space u have to work with

I just got the stillen dampner this weekend and if it does vibrate then there is only one solution, put some silicone on the threading and install it. When it dries, it won't vibrate loose anymore.

Yes sir. But something I can easily open later. I found that silicone on some threads holds very well plus it has enough movement not to damage anything.

Meh you will never need to open it....and if you remove the overflow tank and make room the stillen isnt that hard to install....anything that helps keep the engine in place especially with a Turbo and light-weight flywheel is worth it in my book...

My previous experience with Weapon R products has not been good. They are usually built very cheap, and are usually a generic "make it fit" sort of product.

Correct mean if I'm wrong, but wouldn't buying solid engine motor mounts be a better investment? Obviously the install would be more involved, but functionality wise?

I had a Weapon-R engine damper installed on my N/A Z for a while and it worked great. I use to have a problem getting into gear at higher rev but after installing this product shifting became a lot easier and the engine felt smoother. You will notice a slight vibration but nothing major, I only noticed b/c the Z is my daily driver and when you drive it every single day you start to notice the little things. Note: You will need to trim the engine cover slightly to make it fit. It attachés to the factory plenum via two bolts, if you have an aftermarket plenum it might not fit so be careful. I had to sell it once I installed my Stillen S/C. I missed it a lot so I bought Stillen's version and it is pretty much the same design only different mounting location. I think Weapon-R's mounting point is a lot better. You will see what I mean if you buy one, also the install is a snap. Here is a pic of it right before it was removed to give you guys an idea of what it looks like. Enjoy!

PS - Also this would be the equivalent to installing solid motor mounts since it pretty much does the same thing but with less vibration and cost. I highly recommend it.

Every Z is different, mine is pushing 70k now and over time the engine movement increases making the damper work harder. The vibration was very minor as mentioned above. But after driving with it on for a while you don't really notice. If you ever remove it you will realize what I mean.

I agree, but thats the point of a dampner, to not damage your stock engine mounts because they are rubber and soft. Over time they will break down, but the dampner helps lessen the blow on the engine mounts which increases its lifespan.

Thanks for the input and the pics!! I'm planning on installing a Stillen S/C down the road (a year or two away), but I'm thinking that the ease of the Weapon R might be worth it in the mean time even if I have to switch it out in the end.

Everyone's been really helpful on this subject...I appreciate it!
