Default Going Synthetic...

What is the best redily available to use? I usualy take my cars to a Mobil oil change place. Do they stock synthetic? My car has 4,600 miles on it. How much should I expect this to cost? Once you go synthetic you cant go back to DINO oil right ?

Yes, Mobile 1 has their synthetics...lots of people using them. Some people
are very strict on choosing their synthtic oil brand and they tend to use only certain brands such as Motul, Royal purple, Redline..etc. They will cost you about $35 for 5 quarts.. For my understanding, once you go synthetics, you can't go back to dino..I've read this from somewhere.

^ If you do a search, Mobile 1 synthetic oils tend to burn more causing a
oil consumtion issues but some people reports no problem..

+1 on the Mobile 1. I have been using Mobile 1 in my car for 2 plus years. I have heard good things about Amsoil as well.

Try anything you want, synthetic, dino, back and forth, mix it if you like. I've done all of that in several engines over the past 30 years, and as long as you change the oil regularly, you won't have any problems. RP has given me the best performance in the Z, but Mobil 1 worked very well for me in American engines. I've heard great things and bad things about almost every brand out there, and most have been false. I only believe what I see with my own two eyes. Read up, pick one, and make up your own mind.

Yes you can go back and forth, no it wont cause any problems and you can mix it as well (why I dont know) but thats what a synthetic blend is.
Mobil 1 is dino oil, not a true synthetic, Motul is the best with Amsoil second.
My opinion of course! I have used them all and stay with Amsoil and Motul!
Elf, Nippon,Amsoil and Motul are true synthetics (ester based) with Redline, Royal Purple, Mobil 1 and Torco being petroleum based. (Dino oil).
Not sure about Greddy?
Hope this helps.......visit the Amsoil website and see the difference!

Go to bobistheoilguy.com and see what people there say. Not to put anyone down on this forum. It is all about oil, tests, and all the good stuff about oil.

I use and recommend Castrol Syntec 0w-30 it is made in Germany (all other castrol syntec are made in america and are made from a different base stock) this oil is only sold at autozone. Much thicker oil then Mobile 1 and has great used oil analysis on bob is the oil guy, this oil actually has it own forum on that site a big favorite with that group
