Red face Aftermarket Clutch Question

It is coming to the time where I am going to need a new clutch. First off I have zero mods done to my 03 350z and really plan on doing nothing. I daily drive the z about 50 miles a day. Mostly stop and go traffic.

I stopped by Performance Nissan after work today and I have a few options. But I would like feedback from you guys.

Stock Clutch+ Flywheel (they said they do not recomend resurfacing??? and charge almost 1K for just a flywheel ) So that will run me $1700ish installed

I am curious how these are for daily driving?
ACT Clutch+ Flywheel
NZ1-HDSS NISSAN 350Z 455 / 35% HD / SS $531.01
ACT-600215 NISSAN 350Z 2003-2006 Chromoly 16.9 lbs $362.00
$1400ish install

JWT Clutch+Flywheel
L3503-NC000 NISSAN 350Z 2003-2006 VQ35DE Pressure Plate & Organic Disc: 1200kg $412.00
L3503-NF000 NISSAN 350Z 2003-2006 VQ35DE Aluminum 14 lbs $361.00
$1300ish installed

Also can I use a stock clutch on a nismo flywheel? If so that would be a good route.
That combo would be around $1200

The Nismo flywheel is compatible with the stock clutch and would work fine. I just bought the JWT flywheel and clutch through Performance last month when my clutch went at 29,000 miles. I love it. I have heard all these people talking about flywheel/transmission gear chatter and I have none. It rips through the RPM's now too. It's only $900 for both and about $500 to have it installed plus clutch feels smoother and lets out at the floor. A+++ product and Performance was a breeze to work with just my

Hope that helps.

Others may suggest the Act flywheel that is out now as well.

I daily drive my car 50+ miles mostly stop and go. How does the clutch feel?

JWT is the most driver friendly aftermarket clutch/flywheel combo IMO. I got mine while I was NA and it was very nice. I drove about 50 miles a day also.

Great. I think I might end up going that route.

JWT, NISMO and ACT are all equally streetable - no measurable difference between how they drive, just how they sound and the power they will hold

That's great info. I've been searching and trolling clutch/flywheel threads and was really concerned that the price of admission for a lighter set-up was noise (which I'm not excited about). I thought the JWT would be noisy for sure.

Z1 Performance: In my research I was not able to determine which set-up was quietest. Can you offer some insight?

I have not spent alot of time with a JWT as there are not many locals with it. Of the time I have spent, its flywheel was among the loudest (its the same as the Fidanza flywheel FYI) but not obnoxiously so (IMHO).

As my "go to" setup, we love the ACT as it holds gobs of torque, is totally streetable, gives very noticeable gains in terms of how lively the car feels afterwards, and it was not a loud flywheel at all (either in street or pro configurations - and most of our customers go for the pro light version)

+1 for the all ACT setup. ACT Stage 1 pressure plate, street disc, and Prolite flywheel FTW!!!

I just had Forged install a prolite flywheel and ACT street clutch. I'm happy with it.

I wondered if you had installed it yet. What are your thoughts on the engine rev up and noise level?

I hear lots of good things about both the JWT and ACT clutches. If you're not pushing the limit with an FI setup, then either one is bound to satisfy... FYI - If you do decide to go FI, I believe the ACT is rated a little higher. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). When I put my car through it's FI rounds, I debated getting the ACT setup for that reason (went ATS - way overkill for what you're trying to do).

Hope this helps a bit.

I am definantly not going FI with this car. Overall I would like something similar to the stock clutch and style but see no reason to spend almost 1k on a stock flywheel.
