Question Best synthetic oil type...

I live in Florida, it will be in the 50's and 60's for the next few months but then after that, it will be in the 90's. I only drive about 500-650 miles a month in my Z so this oil change will last quite a while.

Should I get 10w-30 ?

Alot of people seem to go with 10-30, I run 5-30 in VA all year around. I tried the lucas synthentic in my accord with 160K, it's pretty good, more than the royal purple that I use in my Z.
I switched from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple and I noticed alot in smoothness and power.
RP is the way to go.

I recently switched to RP from Mobil 1, it seems to be quieter when I start the engine (now I live in God's country so it is never ridiculously cold at night). Other than that, I really haven't noticed a noticeable smoothness or power gain, only a dyno can tell you that.

As far as your questions goes, you will hear opinions that differ on each and every synthetic oil that is out there. So good luck, do some research on the different websites to get some opinions and analysis.

I bought a case of mine from an ebay dealer, got a great price, like $6 a quart (S/H and sales tax included).

I'm not sure how much it will run you at a local auto store, most likely significantly more.

royal purple really isn't that great.

Motul or Amsoil. in the long run it's worth it.

personal preference. Just like I would not be caught dead putting Amsoil in my car.

I bought a Mobil 1 filter and 5 quart jug and took it to my local nissan dealership (not every dealership is the same). They charged me $14.95 to change it.

edit: damn we posted at the same time with same reply ... the odds ... although mine was a buck cheaper

if you use royal purple you would know, as it takes a minute for it to change colors, so it should still be purple when you pick it up

you can use the OEM nissan if you have the dealer change your oil. I use the K&N Filter on mine, but the mobile 1 filter is also good.
